비주얼 씽킹을 활용한 특수학교 사회과 수업이 지적장애 중학생의 학업성취도와 수업참여행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 비주얼 씽킹을 활용한 특수학교 사회과 수업이 지적장애 중학생의 학업성취도와 수업참여행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 경상북도 S시에 소재한 특수학교에 재학 중인 지적장애 학생 4명이 연구에 참여하였다. 연구 설계로는 학급 간 중다 간헐 기초선 설계를 사용하였으며, 기초선, 중재, 유지의 3단계로 총 22차시 비주얼 씽킹을 활용한 수업을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 비주얼 씽킹을 활용한 사회과 수업은 지적장애 중학생의 학업성취도와 수업참여행동을 향상시켰으며 중재가 종료된 후에도 그 효과가 유지되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 비주얼 싱킹을 활용한 특수학교 사회과 수업이 지적장애 중학생의 학업성취도와 수업참여행동 변화에 긍 정적인 효과가 있음을 나타내며, 지적장애 학생의 학습 특성을 고려한 효과적인 사회과 교수·학습 방법으로 활용될 수 있도록 시사점을 논의하고 후속 연구를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of social studies classes in a special education school using visual thinking on academic achievement and class participation behavior of middle school students with intellectual disabilities. Four students with intellectual disabilities attending a special school in S-city, Gyeongsangbuk-do participated in this study. The multiple probe design across classes was used, a total of 22 social studies classes using visual thinking were conducted over three phases from the baseline, the intervention, and the maintenance session. As a result of the study, the instruction using visual thinking improved the academic achievement and class participation of middle school students with intellectual disabilities, and the effects were maintained even after the intervention ended. These results indicate that social studies classes using visual thinking have a positive effect on academic achievement and class participation behavior of middle school students with intellectual disabilities. Implications were discussed and follow-up research was suggested so that it can be used as an effective social studies teaching and learning method considering the learning characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities.
