포스트 코로나, 일상적 여가의 재발견

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 코로나19 팬데믹 이전과 발생 이후의 일상적 여가 변화를 분석하는데 있다. 이는 팬데믹 상황에서 개개인의 행복을 위해 꾸준히 지속해 오고 있는 일상적 여가 분석을 통해 코로나19 팬데믹이 여가에 미친 영향을 종합적으로 이해하고, 현재를 거울삼아 포스트 코로나 시대의 미래 여가를 전망해 보고자 한다. 연구Ⅰ은 토대연구로 데이터 분석방법으로 많이 활용되는 텍스트마이닝을 이용하여 여가와 관련된 신문기사를 중심으로 코로나 이전 1년과 코로나 발생 이후 1년의 여가 기사를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 48개 언론사의 뉴스데이터를 보유하고 있는 한국언론진흥재단의 ‘빅카인즈’신문기사 데이터를 활용하여 ‘여 가’관련 기사를 대상으로 핵심단어를 추출하였다. 연구Ⅱ에서는 질적연구 방법을 활용하여 개개인의 일상생활 속에서 참여하는 작고, 내재적으로 동기화된 재미있는 활동, 즉 일상적 여가의 특징을 분석하고자, 성별, 연령별로 총 17명을 심층면담하였다. 이를 통해, 코로나19 이전과 발생 이후의 ‘여가’관련 기사의 변화와 코로나19 시대의 일상적여가(중단된 여가, 일상적 여가의 변화)의 특징을 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과 19년도에 비해 20년도에 ‘여가’관련 언론기사에서 상대적으로 많이 등장한 단어는 코로나, 확진자, 감염증, 방역, 팬데믹, 재난지원금 등 코로나 관련 이슈로 나타났으며, 여가 관련 핵심단어로는 집콕, 언택트, 비대면, 언팩 등이 새롭게 등장하였다. 코로나19로 인해 중단된 여가로는 단체활동적 여가·여가문화체육시설 이용 여가·실내공간 이용 여가·물 관련 시설 이용 여가·여행과 관광으로 나타났다. 또 코로나19로 인해 일상적 여가는 여가소비(여가시간, 여가빈도, 여가비용)의 변화, 여가공간의 변화, 여가동반자의 변화가 나타났다. 본 연구는 그동안 학문적 관심이 부족하였던 ‘일상적 여가’의 기능을 보다 절실히 느끼는 이 시대에 꼭 필요한 연구라 판단되며 본 연구 결과는 포스트코로나 시대의 여가 트렌드 예측 및 여가정책, 여가 프로그램 개발에 있어 기초자료를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the changes in everyday leisure before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This involves a comprehensive understanding of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on leisure through the analysis of everyday leisure activities that individuals have consistently maintained during the pandemic, and it aims to forecast future leisure in the post-COVID era using the present as a reference. Study I is a foundational research that used text mining, a widely utilized method in today's data analysis, to examine leisure-related newspaper articles from one year before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. For this, the ‘BigKinds' newspaper article data from the Korea Press Foundation, which holds news data from 48 media outlets, was used to extract key words related to ‘leisure'. In Study II, qualitative research methods were employed to analyze the characteristics of everyday leisure—small, intrinsically motivated, and enjoyable activities that individuals participate in their daily lives—by conducting in-depth interviews with a total of 17 people by gender and age. Through this, the study analyzed the changes in leisure-related articles before and after the outbreak of COVID-19, and the characteristics of everyday leisure during the COVID-19 era (suspended leisure, changes in everyday leisure). The study found that words related to the pandemic, such as COVID-19, confirmed cases, infection, quarantine, pandemic, and disaster relief funds, appeared more frequently in leisure-related news articles in 2020 compared to 2019, and new key words related to leisure such as stay-at-home, contactless, non-face-to-face, and unpack emerged. The characteristics of everyday leisure during the COVID-19 era showed that suspended leisure included group activities, public sports facilities and cultural centers, indoor leisure spaces, water-related facilities, and travel and tourism. Changes in everyday leisure included changes in leisure consumption (leisure time, frequency, and cost), leisure spaces, and leisure companions. This research is considered necessary in an era that urgently feels the function of ‘everyday leisure', which has lacked academic interest, and the results are expected to provide basic data for predicting leisure trends in the post-COVID era and for developing leisure policies and programs.
