기대 가치 모델의 - 비용 변인에 대한 중등교육 맥락의 적용 가능성 탐색: 영어와 수학 과목 비용에 대한 학교급과 성별 차이를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 기대 가치 이론에서 그동안 간과되었던 비용-(의 우리나라 교육co st)현장 적용 가능성을 탐색하였다. 특히, 기존의 기대-가치 모델의 확장 선에서 제안된 기대-가치-비용의 3요인 모델에 기초하여 비용을 보다 상세하게 분석하고자 하였다. 약 1600명의 중･고등학생이 연구에 참여하였으 , 며자기보고식 설문지를 통해 자료를 수집하였 . 다노 , 력기회, 정 , 서자아로 구성된 비용 척도를 사용하여 영어와 수학 과목에 대한 학생들의 비용 인식 정도를 측정하였으며, 학교급과 성차에 따른 비용 인식 차이를 분석하였다. 이때, 학습자의 유능감을 통제한 후 2개 독립변인의 효과를 동시에 검증하고 종속변인인 개 비용 간 상관을 고려하여 42다변량공분산분석×2 을 (MANCO하였다VA)분. 석결과, 학교급과 성별에 따라 비용 인식이 달라지는 주효과 경향이 나타났다. 다변량분석 후 제시되는 단변량 분석 결과로 4개 비용의 세부적인 특성을 파악한 결과에서 영어 과목의 경우 고등학생이 중학생에 비해 노력과 기회 비용을 높게 인식하였으나 자아 비용에 있어서는 중학생이 더 높았 . 다성차에 따른 영어 비용 인식은 노 , 력정서, 자아 비용에서 여학생이 더 높았 . 다수학 과목의 경우 노력과 기회 비용을 고등학생이 더 높게 인식하는 학교급 간 차이가 나타났고, 여학생이 남학생보다 개 비용 모두 높게 인식하는 성차를 보였다4.이 연구는 우리나라 중고등학생들에게 나타나는 비용의 세부적인 특성을 확인하였다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 선행 연구와 비교하여 이론적 함의들을 논의하고 향후 교육 맥락에서 비용의 실제적 사용을 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the learners’ characteristics that should be considered when applying cost variables of the expectancy-value theory to understand students' achievement-related behavior in the context of middle and high schools in Korea. In particular, this study tried to explore the applicability of the three-factor model of expectation-value-cost model. About 1,600 students participated in this study, and their data were collected through a self-reported questionnaire. Effort, opportunity, emotion, and ego cost levels for English and Mathematics subjects were measured and then the diffidences by school level and gender were analyzed. To this end, the effects of the two independent variables were simultaneously analyzed after controlling the learner's competence for each subject matter in a two-way factorial multiple analysis of covariance(2way MANCOVA) considering the correlation between the four costs of the dependent variables. The results showed that there were main effects that the cost perception of English and mathematics differed according to school level and gender. Results of univariate analyses presented after multivariate analysis are as follow. For English, high school students perceived effort and opportunity costs higher than middle school students, but middle school students had higher ego costs. Girls were higher in effort, emotion, and ego cost than boys. For mathematics, there was a difference between school levels in which high school students perceived effort and opportunity costs higher, and there was a gender difference in that girls perceived all four costs higher than boys. This study is meaningful in that it confirmed the detailed differences in costs among middle and high school students in Korea. Based on these results, theoretical implications were discussed in comparison with previous studies, and suggestions for practical use of costs in future educational contexts were made.
