아동의 다문화 수용성이 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 아동의 다문화 수용성이 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구대상은 서울과 경기도에 소재한 초등학교(4~6학년)에 재학 중인 일반가정 아동 343명과 그들의 어머니로 하였다. 자료의 분석은 SPSS 23.0 프로그램을 이용하여, 기술통계, 내적합치도, t- 검증, 일원변량분석, 상관분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구결과는 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 여학생 집단은 남학생 집단보다 다문화 수용성의 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 5, 6학년 집단은 4학년 집단보다 다문화적 인식, 다문화적 개방성의 수준이 높았으며, 다문화적 관계형성능력에서는 5학년 집단이 4학년 집단보다 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 여학생 집단은 남학생 집단보다 사회적 능력책(책임감과 개방성)의 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 다문화가정 아동과의 접촉경험이 있는 아동은 경험이 없는 아동보다 주도성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화 수용성 4개 하위요인들이 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 다문화적 관계형성능력이 아동의 사회적 능력에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났다. 특히, 다문화적 관계형성능력은 사교성과 책임감을 예측할 수 있는 변인으로 나타났다. 이는 일반가정 아동이 다문화가정 아동과의 관계에서 적극적으로 상호작용함으로써 사회적 관계에서 필수적인 사교성과 책임감을 향상시킬 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the influence of Multicultural Acceptance on children's social competence. The participants were 343 Korean children in the 4th to 6th grade and their mothers in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics (frequency analysis, mean & standard deviation), Cronbach's α, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression analysis by SPSS v23.0 program. The results are as follows: First, female students were higher in multicultural acceptance level than male students. Children in the 5th and 6th grade were higher in multicultural awareness, multicultural openness level than children in the 4th grade. In addition, children in the 5th grade were higher in competence in the multicultural relations. Second, female students were higher in social competence (responsibility & openness) level than male students. Children who had a contact experience with children in multicultural families were higher in initiative than the children who had no contact with them experience. Third, in the result of analysis about the effects of children's gender, grade, and multicultural acceptance level on social competence, 'competence in the multicultural relations' was found to influence on children's social competence. In particular, competence in the multicultural relations appeared to be a predictor of sociability and responsibility in social competence. This means that the children in Korean families have active interactions with the children in multicultural families, thereby improve essential sociability and responsibility in social relations.
