국문 초록

이 연구는 문화다양성 교육을 위한 교육과정과 문화예술 기반의 교육방법을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 수행되었다. 다문화 사회의 도래에 따른 교육적 요구에 대응하기 위하여 문화다양성 관점에 기반을 두고 교육과정에 포함되어야 하는 네 가지 영역의 교육 내용을 확인하였다. 문화의 의미와 특징, 문화 다양성의 요소, 문화다양성의 확산, 문화다양성의 인정과 존중을 중심으로 학교급의 수준을 고려하여 초ㆍ중ㆍ고등학생을 위한 교육과정을 개발하였다. 제안된 교육과정을 바탕으로 문화예술적 접근에 기반을 둔 교육방법을 적용하여 교수ㆍ학습 과정안의 전형을 개발하였다. 교육과정 및 교수ㆍ학습 과정안 개발 과정에는 현장 적용성을 최대한 반영하기 위하여 관련 전문가 및 현장 교사와의 협동적 실행 연구 방법론이 적용되었다. 또한 사용자중심 설계 방법론을 활용하여 교사 및 학생들의 반응을 사용성 평가 차원에서 분석하여 최적의 교수ㆍ학습 과정안을 개발하였다. 본 연구가 학교 현장의 교사들이 문화다양성 주제를 교육 내용으로 다룰 때 실질적으로 필요한 교육내용과 방법의 선정 과정에 중요한 지침이 되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

As cultural diversity is among the most concerned theme in contemporary Korean education, this research investigates curriculum and teaching methods to enhance and appreciate cultural diversity education through the study of culture and arts. This research identify the four areas of educational contents that must be incorporated within cultural diversity curriculum in order to be responsive to the educational needs of the increasingly multicultural society that Korea is becoming: meaning and characteristics of culture, component of cultural diversity, expansion of cultural diversity, and acknowledgement and respect for cultural diversity. Guided by the four considerations above, curriculum designed for primary and secondary school levels have been developed in this research. Furthermore, based on the proposed curriculum, pedagogical strategies centered on cultural and artistic accessibility, have been applied and, in so doing, we developed lesson plans. To reflect to the greatest extent possible on-site applicability of our models, collaborative action research methodology that involve both experts and practitioners alike has been implemented. Finally, utilizing the user-centered design model, which evaluates responses from both students and teachers, against the yardstick of the usability test, optimal curriculum and lesson plans are developed. The results of this research could serve as significant benchmarks against which future selection of educational contents and methodology, which are needed in practice, is made when grappling with cultural diversity education.
