다문화가정 고등학생의 진로교육 현황 및 문제점 분석-일반고와 특성화고의 사례 비교를 중심으로-

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교에 재학 중인 다문화가정 학생들의 진로교육 현황을 살펴보고 문제점을 분석함으로써 다문화가정 학생 대상 진로교육의 나아갈 방향을 제안하는데 있다. 이를 위해 다문화가정 학생이 다수 재학 중인 일반고등학교와 특성화고등학교를 연구대상으로 선정하여 비교사례연구를 실시하였다. 연구결과 일반고등학교에서는 다문화교육에 대한 교사들의 인식이 부족하고, 다양성을 인정하지 않는 문화 등 넓은 의미의 다문화교육 환경이 조성되어 있지 않다는 문제점이 나타났다. 이와 비교하여 특성화고등학교에서는 다문화가정 학생의 진로교육 대안을 마련해 가는 과도기적 모습이 발견되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 학교 관리자의 리더십에 의존하지 않는 안정적인 시스템과 지속적·체계적인 진로교육을 위한 통합적 시스템의 부재라는 문제점이 드러났다. 연구결과를 토대로 전체 학생 대상 다문화교육 프로그램 및 다문화가정 학생 지도교사 연수 프로그램 강화, 허브기관 구축을 통한 안정적·통합적 진로교육 시스템 마련, 다문화가정 학생의 개별적 특성을 반영할 수 있는 세분화된 진로교육 프로그램 개발 등과 같은 개선 방안 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study is to examine the current status of career and vocational education for high school students from multi-cultural families and provide suggestions to improve the education system. To this end, comparative case study between general high schools and vocational high schools has been performed including direct observational field studies and in-depth personal interviews. This study shows that lack of awareness by instructors on multi-cultural education and external circumstances influence the environment of career and vocational education for multi-cultural students. Specifically, reluctance to accept cultural diversity within society and lack of stable educational system are critical issues. Vocational high schools seem to undergo a transition towards multi-cultural education by developing measures to embrace multi-cultural students. Still, segmented career and vocational education programs catering to individual multi-cultural students have not been developed. This study suggests that schools should cultivate a broader cultural perspective for multi-cultural education. In addition, it is necessary to establish a Hub-Center that integrates and manages career and vocational education programs for multi-cultural students. Future research and practices are required to develop more segmented programs.
