다문화교육의 연구 동향 분석: 『다문화교육연구』(2008-2021)를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 국내 다문화교육의 연구 동향을 파악하고 시사점을 도출하기 위한 것이다. 이 를 위해, 2008년부터 2021년까지 『다문화교육연구』학술지에 수록된 논문 총 281편을 분석 하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시기별로 살펴보면, 1기(2008-2010년)에는 이 론 연구가 주를 이루었으나, 2기(2011-2015년)와 3기(2016-2021년)에는 양적 연구와 질적 연 구의 비중이 크게 증가하였다. 둘째, 연구 주제와 관련하여, 1기에는 연구 주제가 미분화된 다문화교육의 연구 동향 분석:『다문화교육연구』(2008-2021)를 중심으로 - 131 - 상태에서 2기부터 연구 주제가 세분화되는 경향이 나타났다. 셋째, 연구 유형별로 살펴보 면, 이론 연구에서는 다문화교육 관련 개념/이론 연구, 다문화교육의 방향/방안에 대한 연구 가 많이 이루어졌으며, 내용 분석 연구에서는 교과서 분석 및 다문화교육 연구 동향 분석 연구가 많이 수행되었다. 양적 연구에서는 비다문화 및 다문화 학생 대상 연구가 가장 많 이 이루어졌고 설문 조사와 패널 조사 자료 분석 연구가 주를 차지하였다. 질적 연구의 경 우, 결혼이민자/가족 연구, 2개군 이상에 대한 연구, 비다문화 교원 연구가 많이 이루어졌 고, 연구 방법으로는 일반질적연구와 사례 연구가 주를 이루었다. 혼합 연구는 다른 연구 유형에 비해 드물게 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 향후 연구 유형, 연구 방법, 연구 대상/참여자의 편중 현상을 해소하고 연구 대상/참여자의 확대를 위한 방법론적 도전, 다양한 연구 자료와 연구 방법을 활용한 연구물 축적의 필요성을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore the trends of multicultural education research in South Korea. For this purpose, the study analyzed a total of 281 research articles published from 2008 to 2021 in the journal of『Multicultural Education Studies (MES)』. The research results are as follows: first, theoretical studies accounted for the largest proportion in the first period (2008-2010), while quantitative and qualitative studies increased in the second period (2011-2015) and the third period (2016-2021). Second, research topics tended to be divided into subtopics in the second and third period while they remained unsegmented in the first period. Third, according to the analysis results of each research methodology, studies on academic concepts/ theories and directions in multicultural education were most common among theoretical research studies. Content analysis studies mainly focused on textbook analysis and research trends in multicultural education. Quantitative studies on non-multicultural students and multicultural students were conducted the most by analyzing survey and panel data. Qualitative studies on married immigrants or multicultural families, two or more groups, and teachers were most frequently conducted in general qualitative studies and qualitative case studies. Very few mixed-methods research studies were identified in the journal. Based on the research results, this study suggests the continuous production of multicultural education research with diverse subjects employing various research methodologies and methods
