통합교과 교과서 분석을 통한 미술재료의 방향성 탐색

국문 초록

미술 재료는 어린이의 표현에 있어서 가장 필수적이고 근본적인 존재이다. 재료는 어린이에게 원초적인 표현의 욕구를 일으키고, 놀이나 탐구의 대상이 되기도 하고, 수업에 대한 동기와 호기심을 불러오기도 한다. 따라서 미술교육에서 재료는 대단히 중요한 대상이다. 본 연구는 이러한 미술 재료가 초등학교 현장에서 어린이들에게 어떻게 다뤄지고 있는지를 파악하기 위해 2015개정 통합교과서에서 제시되는 초등학교 저학년 미술 재료의 현황 및 문제점을 분석하여, 미술교육에서 보다 발전된 미술재료의 방향을 제안하는데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 연구 결과, 초등학교 통합교과서에서 제시되는 미술 재료는 종류들 간에 편중이 크게 나타났다. 또한, 대부분의 재료가 전형적인 미술 재료의 틀에 머물러 전반적으로 전통적 경향을 띄며, 재료를 활용한 다양한 방법과 깊이 있는 체험 또한 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석을 통해 향후 교과서에서 다뤄지는 미술 재료에 대한 개선 방향을 다음과 같이 제시하고자 하였다. 첫째, 교과서에서 제시되는 미술 재료를 더 다양하게 확대한다. 둘째, ‘지금-여기-우리 삶’에서 미술 재료를 발견한다. 셋째, 반복된 표현을 벗어나 미술 재료를 다양하게 활용한다. 넷째, 미술 재료를 보다 깊이 있게 느끼고 체험한다. 본 연구는 수업의 기본이 되는 교과서 내의 미술 재료를 분석하여 학교 미술수업에서 사용되는 재료의 현황을 알아보았다. 또한 교과서의 근원인 교육과정을 함께 고찰하여 그 근본을 함께 살피고, 미술재료와의 관계를 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 향후 재개편될 통합교과에서 미술 활동 및 미술 재료가 나아갈 방향을 제시하며, 궁극적으로 교육현장에서 이전보다 미술 재료에 대한 교육적 중요성이 재고되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Art materials are the most basic and indispensable part of children's expression. Materials arouse in children a desire for basic expression, serve as objects of play or inquiry, and provide motivation and curiosity about classes, making materials an important subject in art education. This study analyzes the current status and problems of art materials for the lower grades of elementary school presented in the 2015 revised integrated textbook to understand how these art materials are handled by children within the elementary school field. As a result, there was a significant bias in the art materials included in the integrated textbooks for elementary schools. Most of the materials tended to be conservative by staying within the framework of typical art materials, and it was revealed that various methods and in-depth experiences using such materials were insufficient. Through this analysis, it is recommended that the following improvements be made in future textbooks: First, the art materials presented in textbooks should be expanded in more varied ways. Second, art materials should be found in 'Our Lives, Here and Now'. Third, various art materials that exceed repeated expressions should be utilized. Fourth, art materials should be felt and experienced more thoroughly. In brief, this study examined the current status of materials used in school art classes by analyzing art materials in textbooks—the foundational ground for classes. Furthermore, the curriculum, which also serves as the basis for textbooks, was analyzed in order to understand its origins and how it relates to art materials. With the hope that the educational significance of art materials will be reevaluated in the educational sector, this investigation provides the direction for art activities and art materials in the integrated curriculum, which is to be reformed in the near future.
