유아 수학학습과 언어학습에 대한 어머니의 인식 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 수학학습과 언어학습에 대한 어머니의 인식을 비교해 보고, 이를 통하여 가정에서 수학학습의 어려움을 해결하는 방안을 모색해 보고자 한다. 연구대상은 만5세 자녀를 둔 어머니 248 명이다. 언어학습과 수학학습에 대한 어머니의 인식을 조사하기 위해 Cannon과 Ginsburg(2008) 의 연구에서 사용한 도구를 기반으로 본 연구에 적합하게 수정한 설문지를 사용하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 어머니들은 유아가 수학과 언어의 능력에 대해 정도의 차이는 있었지만 능동적으로 배우는 존재라고 인식하였다. 둘째, 어머니들은 자녀의 수학학습보다는 언어학습을 더 많이 돕고 있었으며, 수학과 언어를 일상생활과 관련지어 지도하는 것이 가장 효과적이라고 인식하고 있었다. 그러나 어머니들은 자신의 인내심 부족, 수학과 언어에 대한 내용, 활동, 방법에 대한 지식의 부족 때문에 수학과 언어를 지도하는 것이 어렵다고 안식하고 있었다. 본 연구 결과에서 나타난 어머니의 인식을 기반으로 가정에서 어머니들의 언어·수학학습의 어려움을 해결하는 데 도움을 주는 부모교육프로그램 개발의 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the difficulties that mothers have about mathematics education by comparing their perception of language education with their perception of The participants are 248 mothers who have 5 year old children. To investigate their percep- tion, a questionnaire was used, which was based on the questionnaire of Cannon and Ginsburg (2008) and was modified for this study. The results of this study are as follows. First, the results show that mothers perceive that their children are active learners of language and mathematics. Second, they think that they support their children's language education more than mathematics education. And they consider utilizing everyday life in teaching as an effective way. Mathematics education is considered more difficult than language education, and the suggested difficulties in teaching language and mathematics by mothers are the lack of patience and the not sufficient knowledge of teaching the early language and mathematics education's contents, activities, and methods. Third, mothers consider language education more important than mathematics education for various reasons. The study discusses effective ways of teaching mathematics in relation with the mothers' perception.
