전일제와 시간제 조기영어교육 경험에 따른 유아의 억제 및 선택적 주의의 차이

국문 초록

본 연구는 전일제와 시간제 조기영어교육 경험에 따른 유아의 억제 및 선택적 주의가 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 5세 75명(전일제 영어교육 유아 23명, 시간제 영어교육 유아 52명), 7세 40명(전일제 영어교육 유아 20명, 시간제 영어교육 유아 20명), 총 115명으로 이들의 동질성 검증을 위해 지능을 측정하였고 별꽃과제와 ANT를 실시하였다. 자료의 분석은 전일제와 시간제 조기영어교육 경험에 따른 유아의 억제 및 선택적 주의의 차이를 분석하고자 독립표본 t-검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구결과는 첫째, 주의통제 중 억제 수준은 5세 유아의 경우 두 집단 간에 유의한 차이가 없었지만, 7세 유아의 경우 전일제 영어교육 유아가 시간제 영어교육 유아보다 유의한 차이로 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 주의 통제 중 선택적 주의 수준은 5세 유아의 경우 전일제 영어교육 유아가 시간제 영어교육 유아보다 유의한 차이로 높게 나타났지만, 7세 유아의 경우 두 집단 간에 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 본 연구결과는 조기영어교육 경험과 유아의 억제 및 선택적 주의가 밀접한 관련이 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to identify the differences in inhibition and selective attention according to full-time and part-time experience of early English education from five to seven years old. The objects of this research were 43 full-time children(23 five-year-old and 20 seven- year-old) and 72 part-time children(52 five-year-old and 20 seven-year- old) with experience of early English education from 3 language institutes and 3 daycare centers in Busan. To achieve the purpose of this research, the conducted tests were as follows : the stroop-like star-flower task (Han, 2001) and ANT(Attentional Network Test, Fan et al., 2002) for young children. This research was in particular analyzed by Independent Sample t-test to identify the differences of inhibition and selective atten- tion according to experience of early English education of young children. The results of this study were as follows; First, there was a significant difference in inhibition between full-time and part-time children with experience of early English education for seven-year-old, but there was no significant difference for five-year-old. Second, there was a significant difference in selective attention, that is executive effect between full-time and part-time children with experience of early English education for five-year-old, but there was no significant difference for seven-year-old. In conclusion, there was a close relation between the experience of early English education and inhibition and selective attention of young children.
