청소년의 내재목표 잠재프로파일에 따른 학업적, 사회적, 심리적 적응 차이

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 내재목표에 따라 청소년을 유형화하고 각 유형의 청소년이 학업적, 사회적, 심리적 적응에서 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 알아보고자 했다. 이를 위해, 한국아동·청소년패널조사 2010의 초등학교 4학년 패널의 4차, 즉 중1 학생들의 하위 내재목표(자기성장목표, 사회관계목표, 사회기여목표)에 대한 응답을 바탕으로 잠재프로파일 분석을 실시했다. 또, 해당 연도와 3년 뒤 학교급이 바뀌어 고등학생이 되었을 때(4학년 패널의 7차) 학업노력, 또래관계, 공동체의식, 삶의 만족도에 있어 각 유형에 속하는 학생들이 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 살펴봤다. 연구 결과, 청소년들은 내재목표를 전반적으로 중시하는 정도에 따른 내재목표고수준집단, 내재목표평균집단, 내재목표저수준집단, 그리고 사회관계목표를 특히 중시하는 사회관계목표고수준집단까지 총 4개 집단으로 분류되었다. 청소년들은 전반적으로 내재목표를 더 중요하게 인식하는 집단에 속할수록 중1 시기와 고1 시기 모두 학업노력, 또래관계, 공동체의식, 삶의 만족도에서 더 긍정적인 모습을 보였다. 사회관계목표를 특히 중시하는 사회관계목표고수준집단 청소년들은 중1 시기 학업노력, 또래관계, 공동체의식, 삶의 만족도에서 대체로 긍정적인 모습이었으나 고1 시기에는 또래관계, 공동체의식에서만 이러한 긍정적인 모습이 유지되었다. 이를 통해, 내재목표 중 사회관계목표를 중시하는 청소년의 특성에 대한 이해, 그리고 이러한 특성이 청소년의 단기적, 장기적 측면에서의 적응과 어떠한 관련성을 보이는지에 대한 이해는 중요한 부분임을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to classify adolescents based on their intrinsic goals and to identify whether classified adolescents showed differences in academic, social, and psychological adjustment. Using 4th-grade students’ fourth wave data of KCYPS 2010, we classified seventh graders depending on their perceived importance of intrinsic goals. As outcome variables, we considered academic effort, peer relationship, sense of community, and life satisfaction of the relevant academic year and three years later (4th-grade students’ seventh wave data). Results showed that the students were categorized into four profiles: the profiles of high intrinsic goals, moderate intrinsic goals, low intrinsic goals, and high social relations goals. Students in the profile of high intrinsic goals showed positive patterns in academic effort, peer relationship, sense of community, and life satisfaction both when they were seventh graders and when they became tenth graders. Students in the profile of high social relations goals were also positive in academic effort, peer relationship, sense of community, and life satisfaction when they were seventh graders, but these positive patterns only remained in peer relation and sense of community when they became tenth graders. These results suggest that we need to understand adolescents’ tendency to value social relations goals. We also need to understand how this tendency influences adolescents’ short-term and long-term adjustment.
