국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 내현적 자기애와 우울의 관계에서 부적응적 자기초점주의와 대인관계 유능성의 순차적 매개효과를 확인하는 것에 있다. 이를 위해, 전국 대학생 255명(남자 79명, 여자 176명)이 내현적 자기애 척도, 부적응적 자기초점주의 척도, 대인관계 유능성 척도, 우울 척도로 구성된 자기보고식 온라인 설문에 참여하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS 26.0과 AMOS 26.0을 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 대학생의 내현적 자기애와 우울의 정적 관계에서 부적응적 자기초점주의와 대인관계 유능성의 순차적 매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 이는 내현적 자기애 특성을 지닌 대학생이 부적응적으로 자신에게만 초점을 맞추게 되면, 대인관계 유능성은 저하되고 이것은 높은 수준의 우울로 이어질 수 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구 결과는 내현적 자기애 특성을 지닌 대학생이 우울을 경험할 경우, 일차적으로 부적응적 자기초점주의를 낮추는데 초점을 둔 개입전략이 제공될 필요성을 시사한다. 끝으로, 본 연구의 한계점과 추후 연구방향을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to confirm the sequential mediating effect of maladaptive self-focused attention and interpersonal competence in the association between covert narcissism and depression in college students. For this purpose, 255 college students (male: 79, female: 176) participated in a self-reported online survey consisting of a covert narcissism scale, a maladaptive self-focused attention scale, an interpersonal competence scale, and a depression scale. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0. As a result, maladaptive self-focused attention and interpersonal competence mediated the positive association between covert narcissism and depression, sequentially. This means that if a college student with covert narcissism only focuses on himself maladaptively, then the interpersonal competence was reduced, which was linked to a high level of depression. The results suggest the need to provide intervention strategies that focus on reducing maladaptive self-focused attention on depression in college students with covert narcissism. Limitations and directions for future research were presented.
