근사체험의 영적 특성과 죽음학적 의의 탐색

국문 초록

[연구 목적] 이 논문은 근사체험의 영적 특성에 대한 분석을 통해서 근사체험의 죽음학적 의의를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. [연구 내용] 이 논문에서는 첫째 최근의 근사체험 담론을 고전적 죽음체험 담론의 관점에서 제시하였다. 1970년대 이후 실증적 차원에서 시도된 최근의 근사체험 연구의 관점에서 시행된 내용을 탐색하였다. 둘째 근사체험 담론에 대한 영적 논의를 제시하고, 근사 체험연구와 관련된 논쟁에 대해 기술하였다. 근사체험에 관한 논쟁은 근사체험이 실재하는 현상인가에 대한 논의가 핵심적 내용으로 포함되었다. [결론] 이 논문에서는 근사체험이 죽음의 일상화가 진행되는 현대사회에서 죽음현상을 이해하는 중요한 실마리로서 의미를 지닌다는 점을 밝혔다. 이러한 점에서 최근까지도 학계에서는 근사체험은 과학적으로는 해명이 불가능한 일종의 신비체험이나 초상체험으로만 취급해 왔던 것 또한 사실이다. 이 논문에서는 최근의 학자들이 다양한 논의를 통해서 근사체험이 과학적으로 설명이 가능한 현상일 수 있다는 점을 밝혔다. 근사체험자들은 근사체험을 통해 자신이 영적 존재임을 자각하고, 영적 세계가 있음을 자각할 수 있음을 밝혔다. 그리고 이 점에서 최종적인 결론으로 체험자들에게 근본적으로 삶의 변화를 가져오는 계기경험이 될 수 있다는 점을 밝힘으로써 근사체험의 죽음학적 의의를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

[PURPOSE] The purpose of this article is to explore the thanatological significance through analysis of the the spiritual qualities and its meanings of Near Death Experience(NDE). [CONTENTS] In this article, first, the recent Near Death Experience(NDE)’s discourse was presented from the perspective of the classical-death experience’s discourse. The contents implemented from the perspective of the recent NDE research attempted at the empirical dimension since the 1970s were explored. Second, the spiritual qualities on the NDE’s discourse were presented and the arguments related to the NDE research were described. The debate on NDE included discussions on whether or not NDE is a real phenomenon. [RESULTS] In this article, it has been revealed that Near Death Experience(NDE) is meaningful as an important clue to understand the phenomenon of death in modern society where the routinization of death progresses. In this regard, it is also true that until recently, the NDE has been treated only as a kind of mysterious or portrait experience that cannot be scientifically explained. However, in this article, recent scholars have revealed that NDE can be scientifically explained through various discussions. Near Death Experienced people have revealed that they can realize that they are spiritual beings and there is a spiritual world through Near Death Experiences. And in this respect, the final conclusion was that the Near Death Experience(NDE) could be an trigger experience that fundamentally brings about life changes to the experienced people, suggesting the thanatological significance of the NDE.
