탄소중립에 대한 초등학생들의 인식 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 4, 5, 6학년 초등학생 58명을 대상으로 탄소중립에 대한 전형적인 인식 상황과 탄소중립의 의미에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 초등학생들의 전형적인 인식 상황은 탄소 발생으로 환경에 부정적인 영향을 주는 상황, 탄소중립과 관련 없는 상황, 탄소 배출을 줄이는 상황, 탄소 배출을 줄이고 동시에 탄소를 흡수하는 상황 순으로 많이 나타났다. 탄소중립에 대한 전형적인 인식 상황은 학년별로 상이하게 나타났으며, 몇 가지 특정 주제로 국한되어 나타났다. 또한 대부분의 초등학생들은 대중매체를 통해 탄소중립 용어를 들어본 적이 있으나 의미를 잘 모르고 있었다. 이와 관련하여 탄소중립교육을 위한 교육자료 개발 및 적용을 위한 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the typical perceived situations of carbon neutrality and the perception of the meaning of carbon neutrality from 58 elementary school students the in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. From the results, the typical perceived situations of elementary school students appeared in the following order: a situation in which carbon emission negatively affects the environment, a situation not related to carbon neutrality, a situation to reduce carbon emission, and a situation to reduce carbon emission and absorb the carbon at the same time. The typical perceived situations of carbon neutrality were found different for different grades, and were limited to a few specific topics. In addition, although most elementary school students had heard of the term carbon neutrality through the mass media, the meaning of the specific term was not well understood. In this context, the implications of the development and application of educational materials for carbon neutrality were discussed.
