영유아 및 초등학생 부모 변인에 따른 부정적 양육태도 차이

국문 초록

이 연구는 영유아 및 초등학생 부모 변인과 아동학대 및 체벌 인식에 따라 부정적 양육태도에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권, 호남권, 중부권과 영남권에 거주하고 있는 영유아 부모 283명과 초등학생 부모 320명으로부터 수집한 자료를 분석했다. 연구 결과 첫째, 영유아 부모는 일반적 특성에 따라 부정적 양육태도와 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 초등학생 부모는 부모 연령에서 부정적 양육태도, 부모 직업에서 부정적 및 거부적 양육태도와 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 둘째, 사회에서 발생하는 아동학대 심각성은 초등학생 부모보다 영유아 부모가 더 심각하게 인식하고 있었다. 가정 내 자녀 체벌 행위에 대해 영유아 및 초등학생 부모 모두 ‘훈육이나 교육의 목적이 있을 경우 체벌이 허용될 수 있다’를 가장 많이 인식하고 있었다. 사회에서 발생하는 아동학대 심각성 인식에 따른 부정적 양육태도의 경우 영유아 부모는 부정적 양육태도만 유의한 차이가 나타났고, 초등학생 부모는 부정적 및 거부적 양육태도와 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 가정 내 자녀 체벌 행위 인식은 영유아 및 초등학생 부모 모두 부정적, 거부적 및 통제적 양육태도와 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to evaluate differences in negative parenting attitudes according to parental variables pertaining to infants and kindergarteners and elementary school students, as well as perception of child abuse and corporal punishment. For this purpose, data was collected from 283 parents of infants and kindergarteners as well as 320 parents of elementary school students living in the metropolitan area, the Honam area, the central area, and the Yeungnam area. The results of the study found that there were no significant differences in negative parenting attitudes correlating with general characteristics of infants and kindergarteners. However, the parents of elementary school students displayed significant differences in negative parenting attitudes relating to the parents’ age, and rejective parenting attitudes in relation to heir professions. The gravity of child abuse occurring in society was perceived more seriously by parents of infants and kindergarteners, but both general groups of parents displayed a belief that corporal punishment at home was permissible when it was connected to a “purpose of discipline or education.” With attitudes regarding the perception of the seriousness of child abuse in society, parents of infants and kindergarteners only had a significant difference in negative parenting attitudes, whereas the parents of elementary school students showed significant differences in both negative and rejective parenting attitudes. Also, it was found that there was a significant difference in the perception of corporal punishment behavior for children at home in relevance to negative, rejective, and controlled parenting attitudes for both infants and kindergarteners as well as elementary school students.
