국문 초록

권위를 인정하고 그것에 복종하는 것은 인간이 인간으로 성장하고 인간으로 살아가기 위한 기본 조건이다. ‘하늘’은 권위가 연원하는 초월적 차원의 원천을 상징하며, 권위의 소재처인 ‘사람’과 대비를 이루면서 권위를 정당화하는 궁극적 근거가 된다. 키에르케고르에 의하면, 사도의 신성한 권위는 내재적 차원(‘사람’)으로 ‘내려온’ 초월적 권위라는 점에서 파라독스적 성격을 띤다. 키에르케고르는 파라독스적 권위를 부정하고 그것을 내재적 권위로 대치하려고 하는 당대의 경향과 거기서 빚어지는 종교적 혼란을 투명하게 보여주는 사례로서 아들러를 주목했다. 아들러는 자신이 계시를 받았다고 주장했지만, 그것은 기독교적 개념을 표현하는 언어에 대한 소양과 공부가 부족한 데서 비롯된 오류였으며, 그런 만큼 그의 삶에 의하여 뒷받침될 수 없었다. 사도의 증언은 신성한 권위에 힘입어 신의 가르침을 전달하는 간접전달로서, 피전달자가 자신의 삶으로 신의 가르침을 복제하도록 이끈다. 권위의 표준으로서의 파라독스적 권위는 권위자의 ‘권위 있는’ 증언의 실천에 의하여 정당화된다. ‘의심을 가장한’ 불복종이 교육의 어려움을 가중시키는 이 시대의 상황은 파라독스적 권위에 ‘어린아이같이’ 복종하는 증인의 자세와 실천을 요청한다.

영문 초록

It is an essential prerequisite for human becoming to obey the authority of parents and teachers. In order to understand the deeper meaning of the authority, we must look for the sphere of transcendence, symbolized by ‘Heaven’, from which the immanent authority of ‘Man’ stems. But the paradoxical authority as the transcendent authority which comes down to the sphere of immanence does not permit the rational justification. Kierkegaard’s The Book on Adler shows transparently the religious confusion, resulted from confounding the immanent authority of profane leaders with the paradoxical authority of apostles under the shadow of Hegelian philosophy. Kierkegaard claimed that such confusion must wrought disobedience to the divine authority and eventually make faith useless. From his viewpoint, Adler’s problem was that he lacked schooling in the language of Christian concepts. And, he failed to testify what was revealed to him by using the apostolic authority and living it into his own life. Apostolic witness can be construed as a form of indirect communication, which make it possible for the recipient to reduplicate God’s teaching by living it into his own life. The divine authority of apostles is part of their ‘childlike’ obedience to Christ as the exemplary indirect communicator. It is required that we imitate the ‘childlike’ obedience of apostolic witness and endeavor to restore paradoxical authority as it was in the apostolic age, in that the disobedience ‘disguised as doubt’ makes education more difficult in this age.
