The Relationship Between Interaction and Learning Persistence in Metaverse Learning Environment: The Mediating Effect of Learning Engagement and the Moderating Effect of Learning Presence

국문 초록

팬데믹 이후 메타버스를 활용한 온라인 가상 환경이 새로운 학습환경으로 대두되었다. 이 연구의 목적은 메타버스를 활용한 온라인 학습환경에서 학생자들의 상호작용, 학습지속의향, 학습몰입, 학습실재감 간의 구조적 관계를 분석하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 ZEPETO 등의 메타버스 플랫폼을 활용한 가상 수업 공간에서 토론, 평가, 연구 활동 등 각종 학습활동에 참여한 경험이 있는 학습자 총 199명을 연구 대상자로 선정하였다. 최종 193명의 데이터를 분석하였고, 대부분이 대학생 혹은 대학원생(77.8%)이었다. SPSS 23.0, AMOS 23.0, PROCESS Macro로 확인적 요인분석, 기술통계분석, 다중회귀분석을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상호작용이 학습지속의향에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구한 결과로 유의미한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 상호작용이 학습몰입에 미치는 영향에 대한 검증결과, 유의미한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학습몰입은 학습지속의향에 미치는 연구결과로 정적인 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 상호작용과 학습지속의향 간의 관계에서 학습몰입이 매개효과가 검증되었다. 다섯째, 학습실재감이 상호작용과 학습몰입에 대한 조절효과가 연구결과 나타났다. 마지막으로 학습실재감이 상호작용과 학습지속의향에 조절효과가 존재하는 것으로 검증되었다. 메타버스를 활용한 학습환경에서 학습자간의 상호작용이 학습지속의향에 유의미한 결과가 나타나는 요인에 대하여 실증적인 근거를 검증한 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

In the midst of a mixture of online and offline classes after the pandemic, the “metaverse” platform is emerging as an alternative learning environment. This study aimed to verify a significant moderating effect on learning engagement and learning persistence according to learning presence in order to sustain online learning using the metaverse. A survey was conducted for learners who had experience taking online lectures using the metaverse. Data from 193 learners was collected and analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The interaction between learners in the metaverse was found to have a significant effect on learning engagement and learning persistence. Learning engagement had a positive effect on learning persistence, and its effectiveness as a mediator in the relationship between interaction and learning persistence was verified. Learning presence had a moderating effect on interaction and learning engagement. In a learning environment using the metaverse, it is meaningful to verify the empirical basis for the factors in which the interaction between learners has a significant effect on learning persistence.
