국문 초록

2000년대 이후에 발표된 위화의《형제》와 《제7일》은 출판 직후부터 작품에 관한 논란과 논쟁으로 중국사회를 한바탕 시끄럽게 만들었다. 두 작품에서 눈에 띄는 하나의 공통점이 있다면 그것은 작품이 띠는 ‘당대성’ 즉, 중국사회의 현재를 다루는데 있다. 두 작품을 통해 작가는 당대 중국사회의 병폐에 대해 이야기 하고있다. 소설은 자본으로 움직여지는 사회, 돈이 권력을 낳는 사회, 그로 인해 벌어지는 황당하고 광기어린 사건들을 통해, 시장경제 체제 아래에서 자본에 의해 움직이며 사람의 존엄성마저도 돈에 의해 결정되는 중국사회의 병폐를 뼈아프게 드러내고 있다. 그것은 중국인들에게 '심리적 진통'을 겪게 만들기 충분한 내용이었고, 작품에 대한 논란과 논쟁으로 이어지기에도 충분했다. 또한 두 작품은 중국의 '사회적 병폐'를 비판함으로써, 개인의 목소리를 죽이고 정부 정책에 순응하는 삶을 살아왔던 수많은 기성세대에게 커다란 ‘사상적 충돌’을 안겼다고 볼 수 있다. 이 점 역시 두 작품에 대한 논란과 논쟁의 주요한 요인으로 꼽을 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

This paper examined the implications of controversies and debates over “Brothers” and “The Seventh Day” by Yu Hua. Both have caused a stir in the Chinese society immediately after publication in the 2000s. The novels shared one striking aspect in common: they deal with “contemporaneity,” the Chinese society of those days. Through these works, the author discusses the ills of the contemporary Chinese society. In both novels, readers face a society driven by capital, one where money breeds power, and the subsequent absurd and maddening events. They were also faced with the dark side of a society where even the dignity of a person is determined by money under the market economy system. It was enough to cause “psychological pain” for many Chinese readers who encountered the works, unsurprisingly leading to the controversies and debates. These novels caused a great “ideological conflict” to many older generations who have lived a life of subduing their voices and conforming to government policies through their criticism of China’s “social ills.” It can thus be considered that those points became the major cause of the controversy and debates surrounding these two novels. 2000年代以後余華發表的《兄弟》和《第七天》在中國社會引起了一陣騷動。本論文以兩部作品引起爭議和爭論的核心即突出中國社會現狀的“當代性”爲前提進行分析。《兄弟》描寫了改革開放後激進的社會變化和資本主義帶來的黃金萬能主義等社會弊端。《第七天》講述了資本主義引進以來，腐敗已經到了不可回避的地步等堆積如山的社會問題。作者通過這兩部作品講述了資本主義社會荒唐、瘋狂的一面，甚至連人的尊嚴都被資本左右的中國社會的窘況。這兩部作品喚醒了很多中國人經曆過的心理上的陣痛, 另外，對社會的批判也與貫通中國社會的意識形態形成正面交鋒，這給很多順從政府政策生活的老一輩帶來了巨大的“思想沖突”，這兩點也被認爲是對兩部作品爭議和爭論的核心內容。
