국문 초록

본 논문은 심리검사와 관련된 상황에서 상담자들이 윤리적 판단을 내릴 수 있는 전문적 의식에 대해서 다루었다. 상담자는 종종 심리검사가 불필요한 상황에서 내담자의 복지가 아니라 상담자 중심적인 결정으로 심리검사를 기계적으로 실시하기도 한다. 반면에 심리검사가 필요한 순간에도 상담자의 심리검사에 대한 불신이나 전문성 부족으로 인해 심리검사를 실시하지 않는 경우가 있다. 이렇게 심리검사에 대한 상담자들 간에 양분화된 태도로 인해 심리검사에 특성과 활용에 대한 사전 지식이 부족한 상황에 있는 내담자는 전문적인 심리검사나 상담을 받지 못하는 상황에 있다. 전문성 있는 상담자는 심리검사에 관련된 일련의 과정에서 환자, 증상, 심리검사, 진단명 사용 등에 대한 균형 잡힌 시각을 갖고 윤리적인 판단을 내릴 수 있다. 심리검사를 시행하는 상담자는 6단계의 윤리적 절차를 따라 심리검사 실행여부 검토에서 심리검사 해석에 이르기까지 신중하고 체계적인 심리검사를 내담자에게 제공할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper deals with the professional awareness that counselors can make ethical judgments in situations related to psychological tests. Psychological tests are sometimes conducted mechanically in unnecessary situations due to a counselor-centered decision, rather than for the clients’ welfare. On the other hand, psychological tests may not be conducted due to the counselor’s distrust of psychological tests or lack of professionalism even at the moment when they are needed. Due to this polarized attitude among counselors on psychological tests, clients who lack prior knowledge about the characteristics and uses of psychological tests cannot receive a proper professional help in terms of psychological tests or counseling. A professional counselor should be able to make ethical judgments with a balanced view on patients, symptoms, psychological tests, and use of diagnostic names during psychological examinations. Counselors must follow the six-step ethical procedure to administer psychological tests carefully and systematically, from determining whether psychological tests are conducted or not, to interpreting psychological test results.
