불교 동화의 유아교육적 적용과 유아들의 반응에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아 동화로서의 내용과 구조를 갖추고 있는 불전 설화를 유아 교육 현장에 적용하여 보고, 불전 설화가 어떤 교육적 가치와 의미를 가지고 있는가를 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 먼저, 불전 설화가 동화로서 어떤 성격을 가지는지 또한 유아교육에 어떤 기여를 할 수 있는지에 관하여 이론적 탐색을 하였다. 그리고, 불교 동화로 재화하는 작업을 수행한 불전 설화를 유아교육 현장에 적용하고 유아를 대상으로 설문조사한 결과를 분석하였다. 마지막으로 불전 설화에 대한 이론적 탐색과 현장 적용 결과를 토대로, 불전 설화의 현장 적용 방법과 유아교육적 의미에 대하여 종합적으로 논의하였다. 그 결과, 유아들이 동화의 주제를 이해하고, 실생활과 연관 지어 사고하고 행동할 수 있다는 것, 그리고 유아기에도 종교성이 존재한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과가 유아의 문학 경험의 범위를 넓히고, 상상력과 더불어 도덕성과 지혜를 포함한 유아의 전반적인 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 나아가 현대 유아교육에 불교의 가르침을 적용·통합하는 데에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The focus of this study was to identify the most optimal application methods for children’s fairy tales developed from classic Buddhism stories, The methods include contents and structures appropriate for children s fairy tales, in modern day early childhood education. To achieve the intended objective, The following actions were conducted. First, The characteristics of and relationship between classic Buddhism stories and children’s fairy tales, were identified. Second, classic Buddhism stories were then recreated as children’s fairy tales. Finally, in order to apply the newly created fairy tale in the actual early childhood education environment, various activities were formed and stories were applied to each activity. Finally, the results analyzed. In consequence, we found that infants can understand the motifs of the stories and also can associate them to their real livew in how they think and behave. We also learned that even infants have a sense of religion in their childhood. The study hopes and seeks to contribute to various areas of early childhood education including broadening the horizon of child’s literary experiences and, positively affecting children’s creativity, ethics, wisdom, and overall mental and moral development. The study further hopes to include and apply the teachings of Buddhism to modern day early childhood education.
