노아 홍수의 역사성과 현대적 해석

국문 초록

오직 동일과정설만을 인정하는 현대 지질학에서는 언급조차 없지만, 성경에 기술된 노아 홍수는 성경을 하나님의 말씀으로 인정하는 모든 기독교인들에게는 그 사실성 여부에 많은 관심을 갖고 있고, 더구나 과학이 발달한 지금에 있어서는 무엇보다도 큰 관심거리가 아닐 수 없다. 성경의 기록대로 “홍수가 지구 전체를 덮었고 노아의 가족 8명 외에는 지구상의 모든 종류의 동물들, 새와 육축과 들짐승과 땅에 기는 모든 것, 즉 코로 생물의 기식을 호흡하는 모든 것이 멸절되었다”는 창세기의 기록은 진화론을 모델로 삼고 있는 현대 자연과학의 사상과는 당연히 충돌될 수 밖에 없다. 인류의 기원을 성경에서는 문자적 6일 동안의 하나님의 천지창조로 보고 있지만, 현대과학에서는 과거의 광활한 우주 공간의 어떤 시점에서 예기치 않은 대폭발(big bang)이 있었고, 그 부산물로 우주를 포함한 원시 지구가 탄생되었고, 장구한 세월 후에는 지구에 단세포 생명체가 우연히 발생되기 시작하여 이것이 장구한 세월에 걸쳐서 인류로까지 진화되었다고 보고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 사상이 현대 과학이론의 밑바탕을 이루고 있기 때문에, 하나님의 창조나 노아 홍수를 믿지않는 사람들에게는 성경의 설명이 현대과학과는 도저히 조화될 수 없는 것으로 여긴다. 제임스 어서(James Ussher, 1581-1656)는 1650년에 성경 족보에 나오는 연대들을 토대로 구약 연대기를 작성하였는데, 아담의 창조로부터 인류의 역사를 계산하여 대략 6,000년으로 계산하였고, 오늘날 보수주의 성경학자들은 창세기를 기초로 하여 인류의 역사를 여유있게 잡아도 10,000년은 넘지 않는다고 보고 있다. 기독교에서는 오늘날 고산지대에서 발견되는 해저 생물들과 조개류 화석의 생성 원인은 성경의 노아의 홍수에 기인된 것으로 설명한다. 지각의 변동이나 기후 대격변의 원인, 공룡 멸종의 원인도 또한 노아 홍수와 관련되어 있다고 믿고 있다. 더 나아가 대륙과 해양이 오늘날의 분포를 이루게 된 것도 결국은 노아 홍수의 결과에서 비롯되었다고 본다. 본 논문에서는 성경의 노아 홍수를 자세히 기술하고 이를 뒷받침할 자료로 노아 홍수의 실제성을 제한된 범위 내에서에 정리하고, 또한 고산지대에서 발견되는 화석, 퇴적층의 특징, 석탄층의 특징 등에 대한 현대 과학의 증거들을 기초로 하여 기술하며, 또한 노아의 방주의 행방에 대해서도 다루었다. 결론적으로 과학이 발달할수록 노아 홍수에 대한 구체적 연구가 가능하며 성경에 나오는 노아홍수의 사실성을 현대과학을 통해서 더욱 구체적으로 이해할 수 있게 되었다.

영문 초록

Although it is not even mentioned in modern geology that only admits uniformitarianism, the Noah s Flood described in the Bible is very interested in the truth of the Bible to all Christians who acknowledge the Bible as the Word of God, and moreover, now that science has developed, It may be of the greatest interest above all else. As the Bible records it, “the flood covered the whole earth, and except for the eight members of Noah’s family, every kind of animal on earth, birds, livestock, wild beasts, and everything that creeps on the ground, everything that breathes the breath of life through the nose, was destroyed.” is inevitably inevitably in conflict with the ideas of modern natural science that take the theory of evolution as a model. Although the Bible sees the origin of mankind as God s creation of the heavens and the earth in literal six days, in modern science there was an unexpected Big-bang at some point in the vast cosmic space of the past, and as a by-product, the primitive earth including the universe This is because it is believed that after a long period of time, single-celled life forms started to occur accidentally on Earth and evolved into humans over a long period of time. Because these ideas form the basis of modern scientific theories, those who do not believe in God s creation or Noah s Flood consider the Bible s explanations to be incompatible with modern science. James Ussher (1581-1656) wrote the Old Testament chronology in 1650 based on the dates in the biblical genealogy. Based on this, it is believed that even if we take the history of mankind with ease, it does not exceed 10,000 years. Christianity explains that the cause of the creation of fossils of sea creatures and shellfish found in the high mountains today is due to Noah s Flood in the Bible. It is also believed that Noah s Flood was the cause of crustal shifts, climate catastrophes, and the extinction of dinosaurs. Furthermore, it is believed that the present distribution of continents and oceans came from the result of Noah s Flood. In this paper, Noah s Flood of the Bible is described in detail and the reality of Noah s Flood is arranged within a limited range as supporting data. It is written based on the evidence and also deals with the whereabouts of Noah s ark. In conclusion, as science develops, detailed research on Noah s Flood is possible, and the fact of Noah s Flood in the Bible can be understood more concretely through modern science.
