배우자 사별을 경험한 기독여성에 대한 이해

국문 초록

본 연구는 배우자 상실의 충격을 안고 살아가는 사별 여성들의 외로움의 의미를 심층적으로 탐색하였다. 이를 통하여 사별 여성들의 긍정적인 측면을 이해하고, 위기 속에서 새로운 삶의 전환을 이루어가는 모습을 드러내고자 하였다. 연구 방법으로는 Clandinin과 Connelly의 내러티브 탐구방법을 사용하였다. 연구 참여자들은 배우자와 사별한 지 10년 이상인 여성 세 명이며, 질병으로 남편과 사별하였고, 사별이후 재혼의 경험이 없다. 배우자와 사별한 여성들의 외로움 경험에 대하여 연구주제별로 살펴본 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 사별 초기에 자기 소외감, 남편과 그의 가족으로부터의 유기감, 무력감과 관련하여 외로움을 경험하였다. 둘째, 아내로서의 정체성이 해체되는 고통을 감내하며 새롭게 요구되는 가장으로서의 정체성의 변화는 오직 자녀를 위한 삶의 목적을 설정하고 사별의 충격을 버티는 힘으로 작용하였다. 셋째, 상실의 고통 속에 있는 참여자들은 함께하시는 하나님 안에서 사별의 충격과 외로움을 견디었다. 참여자들은 사별 초기의 외로움에 대한 회피적인 태도가 중년기에 이르러 사별을 자연스럽게 수용하고 외로움에 대해 능동적으로 대처하였다.

영문 초록

This study explored in depth the meaning of loneliness among women living under the shock of loss of their spouses. Through this, we tried to understand the positive aspects of women in the bereavement and to reveal a new life transition in the midst of a crisis. The study method used the narratives of Clandin and Connelly. The participants in the study are three women who have been separated from their spouses for more than 10 years. The results of each study are as follows. First, participants in the study experienced loneliness at the beginning of their bereavement in connection with self–alienation, abandonment from husband and his family, and death. Second, the change in identity as the newly required head, enduring the pain of the disintegration of the identity as a wife, served as a force to set the purpose of life for only the child and to endure the shock of bereavement. Third, the participants in the pain of loss endured the shock and loneliness of bereavement in the God together. Participants naturally accepted bereavement and actively responded to loneliness in the early stages of bereavement by the time they reached middle age.
