유아기 자녀의 위험 감수 놀이에 대한 숲반 부모의 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 숲에서 하루일과를 보내는 숲반 유아를 양육하는 부모가 위험 감수 놀이에 대해 어떤 생각을 가지고 있으며, 자녀의 위험 감수 놀이를 허용하는 이유는 무엇인지 살펴보고자 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 서울에 소재한 4-5세 유아기 자녀를 숲반에 보내는 부모 10명을 연구참여자로 하였다. 2021년 1월부터 2월까지 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였으며, 수집된 자료는 주제 범주에 의거하여 분석하였다. 분석결과, 숲반 부모는 유아기 자녀의 위험 감수 놀이를 ‘안전과 위험의 딜레마를 넘어서며 위험을 경험하는 놀이’, ‘더 높이, 빠르게, 다양한 도구를 사용하는 진짜 좋아하는 놀이’, ‘시공간의 제약 없이 함께 하는 놀이’, ‘가능성을 시도하는 무한성장 놀이’로 인식하고 있었다. 숲반 부모가 위험 감수 놀이를 허용하는 이유는‘부모의 어릴 적 놀이 경험’, ‘주변의 지원과 지지’, ‘놀이에 대한 신념’으로 나타났다. 이를 통하여 위험감수 놀이에 대한 긍정적 측면을 깊이 있게 이해하고, 위험 감수 놀이에 대한 부모 및 교사교육 방안을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 연구의 의의를 두고자 한다.

영문 초록

This purpose of this study was to examine the parents’ perceptions of their children’s risk-taking play in a forest class and the reasons why they allow that type of play for their children. Research participants were 10 parents who lived in Seoul, Korea, sending their children of ages 4 and 5 to a forest class. Interviews were conducted from January to February 2021. Analyzed data were categorized into four themes. Parents percieved risk-taking play as ‘play that children experience many risks by going beyond the dilemma between safety and risk’, ‘higher, faster play that they enjoy tremendously with various tools’, ‘collaborative play without time or space constraints’, and ‘play with infinite possibilities’. The reasons that parents allowed their children to participate in such risk-taking play were ‘parent’s childhood play experiences’, ‘support from their surroundings’, and ‘conviction in play’. Findings were discussed in terms of the importance of understanding positive aspects of young children’s risk-taking play and of providing education for parents and teachers in regard to the children’s risk-taking play.
