유아의 기질과 어린이집 적응의 관계에서 교사-유아 관계의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아의 기질과 교사-유아 관계가 유아의 어린이집 적응에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 유아의 기질과 어린이집 적응의 관계에서 교사-유아 관계의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 어린이집에 재원 중인 만 3세∼5세 유아 215명의 양육자와 교사를 대상으로수집된 자료를 활용하여 Pearson의 적률상관분석, 중다회귀분석, 매개효과분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기질의 행동억제와 의도적 조절은 교사-유아 관계의 갈등과 부적상관, 기질의 긍정적 정서성과 사회적 민감성은 교사-유아 관계의 친밀감과 정적상관을 나타냈다. 기질의 행동억제, 사회적 민감성, 의도적 조절은 어린이집 적응과 정적상관을 나타냈다. 그리고 교사-유아 관계의 친밀감은 어린이집 적응과 정적상관, 교사-유아 관계의 갈등과 의존은 어린이집 적응과 부적상관을 나타냈다. 둘째, 기질의 의도적 조절은 어린이집 적응에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 교사-유아 관계의 친밀감, 갈등, 의존은 어린이집 적응에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 기질의 행동억제, 의도적 조절은 교사-유아 관계의 갈등에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 기질의 행동억제, 의도적 조절과 어린이집 적응의 관계에서 교사-유아 관계의 갈등이 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 어린이집 적응을 위해 유아의 기질적 특질을 이해해야 할 필요성을 함축하며 아울러 어린이집에서 교사와 유아가 맺게 되는 관계의 중요성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of child temperament and the teacher-child relationship on adaptation to daycare center, and to verify the mediating effect of the teacher-child relationship on the relationship between child temperament and adaptation to daycare center. First, there were significant negative correlations among behavioral inhibition, effortful control of child temperament and teacher-child conflict. There were positive correlations among positive emotionality, social sensitivity of child temperament and teacher-child intimacy. there were also significant positive correlations among behavioral inhibition, social sensitivity, effortful control and adaptation to daycare center. There was a positive correlation between teacher-child intimacy and adaptation to daycare center. There were negative correlations among teacher-child conflict, teacher-child dependence and adaptation to daycare center. Second, variables such as effortful control, intimacy, conflict, and dependence had a significant effect on adaptation to daycare center. behavioral inhibition and effortful control had a significant effect on teacher-child relationship. Third, teacher-child conflict was found to be a mediating variable between behavioral inhibition, effortful control and adaptation to daycare center. The findings of this study imply the need to understand the significant of child temperament in explainings a child’s adaptation to daycare center, and also suggest the importance of the teacher-child relationship.
