교육과정 측면에서 본 방과후학교

국문 초록

우리나라의 ‘방과후학교’ 는 2006년부터 기존의 방과후 교육활동을 혁신적으로 도입·추진해오기 시작하여 현재에 이르기까지 양적, 질적으로 많은 성장을 해 왔다. 방과후학교에서 어떠한 교육적 프로그램을 제공해야 할 것인가도 학교의 정규 교육과정의 취약점이 무엇인가를 분석하고, 그러한 부분을 보완하는 방향으로 설정하는 것이 바람직할 것이다. 학교 교육과정 측면에서 본 방과후학교는 학교의 공식적 교육과정에 어떠한 방법으로든 도움을 제공해야 하는 것이며 그러한 의미에서의 방과후학교 도입의 의의를 기술하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 방과후학교는 학교 교육과정의 범람 현상을 완화시켜준다. 방과후학교는 학교 교육과정에 대한 사회의 넘쳐 나는 요구를 분담함으로써 학교 교육과정의 부담을 완화시켜준다. 둘째, 방과후학교는 공식 학교 교육과정이 충실하게 달성할 수 없는 학교 교육과정의 목표를 달성하는 데 크게 기여한다. 교육목표들은 학교 교육과정에서 제공할 수 있는 교육 시간만을 통해서는 도저히 달성할 수 없는 것들이다. 이러한 부분들을 방과후학교에서 집중적으로 다룸으로서 그 성취를 의미 있게 도울 수 있다. 셋째, 방과후학교는 공식 학교 교육과정의 질적 개선을 위한 계기를 마련해 준다. 방과후학교 프로그램을 보다 바람직한 방향으로 설정, 운영하는 것은 학교 교육과정의 질을 보다 바람직한 방향으로 향상시키는 계기가 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Since 2005, our nation’s ‘After-school’ has innovatively changed established after school educational activities. Then it has started to phase in and push ahead with the activities and has sought growth in both quantity and quality to the present. It is advisable for educational after-school programs to set the direction that is to analyze and to supplement the weakness of the regular school curriculum. On the side of school curriculum, it is as in the following to describe the significance of after-school introduction in the sense of how after-school helps formal education. First, after-school alleviates inundation phenomenon of school curriculum. It eases the burden of school curriculum by sharing a superabundance of demands. Second, after-school contributes greatly to achieve the goal that the formal school curriculum can not fully reach. The goals of education can not be attained only with time of education that formal education provides. After-school can help meaningfully that by dealing intensively. Third, after-school provides opportunities for qualitative improvement of formal education. To set after-school programs in the desired direction is can be a chance to develop in the better direction.
