개신교와 아동교육

국문 초록

최근 개신교 교회교육을 진단하고 평가하는 두 가지의 요소 즉 아동수의 감소와 아동교회교육의 침체에 대한 위기감의 원인을 교회적, 교육적, 문화적 입장에서 접근하였다. 개신교의 감리교단을 중심으로 하여 전국 88개 교회의 아동 교회교육의 실태를 조사 파악하여 현황을 다음과 같이 분석하였다. 첫째, 교회목회의 다양한 요소, 즉 예배, 교육, 기도, 선교, 봉사 등의 영역에서 예배와 교육을 가장 중요한 교육요소로 인식하고 있었으며, 특별히 아동예배의 구조와 과정에서 아동들의 참여 및 시대적 문화를 반영하는 시도에 대한 필요성에 관한 인식이 대다수임이 파악되었다. 또한 아동의 종교적 정체감 형성 및 사회적 정체감의 일치를 위하여 기독교 상징과 절기교육을 적절히 사용할 필요가 있음이 분석되었다. 또한 공과교육에 있어서 아동들이 흥미와 발달과정을 고려하여 스쿨모형을 벗어나 놀이와 게임 등을 다양하고 포괄적으로 도입할 필요에 대한 요구가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 현장분석에 대하여 다음과 같은 개신교 교회교육에 관한 제언을 하고자 한다. 첫째, 아동교회교육을 교육목회의 차원에서 예배, 교육, 기도, 선교, 봉사의 차원들이 통전적이고도 통합적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 구성하는 것이 필요하다. 둘째, 아동교육에 관한 신학적 통찰뿐 아니라 교육학적인 성찰을 통하여 아동들의 발달과정 및 종교적 요구에 맞는 교육과정이 제시될 필요가 있다는 점이다. 셋째, 아동 공과교육에 있어서 성경의 의미를 발견해 가면서 그들의 삶의 의미들을 다루어 갈 수 있도록 돕는 교수방법이 필요하다는 점이다. 이를 위하여 토론식 수업만이 아니라, 자기표현의 교육, 집단 상호작용적 교육, 자연 및 예술과 대면하는 교육, 실천적 교육 등이 병행하여 이루어질 필요가 있다. 아울러 학습자들의 인지적 차원과 정서적 차원, 실천적 차원이 전인적으로 통합되는 교육과정 및 교수법이 좀 더 적극적으로 개발되고 사용될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The fabric of the protestant christian education needs to undergo a transformation by the church. Recent survey of public opinion on protestant christian education in church reflects the general sentiment of teachers about crisis of decrease in church education. This study, on survey of protestant christian education in church, suggests that christian education for children should be critically examined in three areas in the present context of Christian education. The first is the change from the battleground of substantialistic of understanding of worship for children and studying bible to the potential consensus of a theological view. Especially From the perspective theology of children, Children should be taken part and make a contribution to the holistic worship. The second is the movement from a split between religious identity and social identity to a growing unity of secular life and worship as modes through which persons experience and extend God’s grace and righteousness in all life. In other words, the symbolic meaning of worship, rites and ceremony should be reinterpreted from a unitarian perspective, which accept both the inside and outside of the church as a place for God’s action, instead of proposing the dualistic concept of the world. The third is rediscovering the power of the play from the perspective of religious education. The participation in the play leads children to redefine Children identity and provide a great opportunity to relate them to the profound resources of the Christian faith at each of the states of children development and to the major culture of our time.
