위기 아동을 위한 기독교교육적 책무 및 역할연구

국문 초록

기독교교육은 언제나 삶의 자리에서 시작한다. 현재 우리 한국의 상황 속에서 아동들에 대한 보고는 위기를 느끼게 한다. 전반적으로 배움의 과정에서 만족을 느끼지 못하고 있으며 친구, 또는 부모와의 관계가 건강하고 전인적으로 형성되어 있지 못하다는 것이다. 그러나 더 큰 문제는 “위기” 속에 놓여있는 아동들이 증가하고 있다는 점이다. 가정의 해체와 빈곤의 심화 등으로 육체적 심리적 사회적인 상황 속에서 위기를 맞이하는 아동들의 수가 늘어나고 있다는 것이다. 이러한 현실에서 본 논문은 기독교교육이 감당해야 하는 빈곤에 놓인 아동들에 대한 교회교육적 책임과 역할을 살펴보았다. 이러한 교회교육적 책임을 논하기 위한 신학적 근거는 기독교 신앙의 통전성이다(시편 146편). 기독교교육차원에서 살펴보았을 때 개신교 아동교육의 주요한 체계인 ‘주일학교’의 태동이 빈곤과 위기상황에 놓인 아동들에 대한 기독교교육적 응답에서 시작되었다는 것이다. 따라서 현 사회 속에 놓인 빈곤아동들을 위한 이론적 실제적 접근을 통해 다음과 같은 기독교교육의 응답과 책무를 모색하였다. 첫째, 기독교교육의 디아코니아적 활동에 대한 관심과 간학문적 접근이 필요성을 모색하였다. 둘째, 현재 교회에서 이루어지고 있는 교회아동교육의 영역을 확대할 것을 제안하였다. 예를 들어 아동센터의 운영, 아동을 위한 인문학 교육 프로그램, 같은 교육을 통하여 위기에 처한 아동들에 대한 적극적이고 종합적인 교육이 필요하다. 셋째, 교회의 사회 참여적 활동 및 책임에 대한 인식과 실천을 연합적이고 교단적 차원에서 해야 하며 교회의 사회적 책무 및 참여를 적극적으로 해야 한다는 점이다.

영문 초록

Christian education is always derived from real life situations (Sitz im Leben). Christian educators cast questions as to what God’s will is and how one shall live if he/she wants to live a life in maturity no matter what the situation is. Reports on children’s situations in Korea place in us a sense of crisis. A survey states that children do not feel satisfied in their learning process and do not have healthy and holistic relationships with their friends and parents. The more serious problem they face, however, is that the number of children ‘in crisis’ are increasing. Dissolution of family and intensification of poverty are major factors that increase the number of children in crisis both physically and psychologically. In this situation, this paper searched the role and the responsibility of Christian education for helping children in crisis. The theological basis for this discussion comes from the holistic nature of Christian faith (Psalm 146). It is Christian faith that seeks the Christian answers to not only social and political problems of life, but also to religious and spiritual problems. As it is known, Sunday school began in response to the needs of children who suffered in great poverty and ignorance. Hence our responsibility as Christian educators is present in helping kids who are in need, or in the midst of poverty. First, we need more concern and scholastic approach to ministry in the realm of diakonoia. In so doing, both pastors and Christian educators need inter-disciplinary and systematic education for understanding in diakonia. Although protestant churches have played a great role in diakonia, there is a need of preparing curriculums which embrace inter-disciplinary conversation between theology and social welfare study. Second, we need to expand the ar eas of chur ch childr en education. For example, we need more holistic education programs such as children centers, liberal arts programs for children and helping hands programs for children in crisis. Third, we need more practical awareness and practice in terms of churches social participation and responsibility. The role and responsibility of Christian education must be carried out not only in a personal level but in denominational and ecumenical dimensions. Through this effort, we shall be able to have broader concern for helping out children in crisis and we can help children to grow as more healthy and mature citizens. That is the major role and social responsibility of Christian education in our current life situation.
