국문 초록

다문화사회는 문화적 다양성이 공존하는 사회다. 다문화현상은 문화적 배경이 다른 이주민의 증가에서 비롯되고 있으며, 모든 문화집단의 구성원이 동질적인 문화요소만을 공유하지 않는다는 것을 뜻하기도 한다. 이러한 다문화사회는 거주 이주민과 함께 그들의 문화 속에 자리 잡고 있는 종교도 함께 이입되고 있기 때문에 다종교사회를 심화시킨다. 따라서 다문화사회는 종교 간 갈등이 빈번해질 수 있는 가능성을 지니고 있다. 다문화사회에서 종교교육은 다문화사회가 심화시키는 다종교현상을 반영할 수밖에 없는 상황에 놓여있다. 이와 같은 상황은 한국사회의 각 종교집단에게 다(多)종교에 대한 이해와 종교 간의 평화를 실천하는 종교교육을 요청한다고 볼 수 있다. 이는 통일교 또한 피할 수 없는 종교교육의 현실이다. 본 논문은 다문화사회의 다문화교육이 문화다양성교육이라면, 다문화사회의 종교교육은 다종교교육, 곧 종교다양성교육이라고 이해하고 있다. 종교다양성교육은 다종교이해교육과 종교평화실천교육으로 구분된다. 다종교이해교육은 종교의 다양성을 이해하는 차원이 강조된다면, 종교평화실천교육은 다종교에 대한 이해에만 그치는 것이 아니라 종교 간의 평화를 위한 윤리적 자세와 태도를 실천하는 차원이 강조되는 교육이라고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 측면에서 다문화사회의 종교교육을 이해하고 이를 중심으로 통일교의 종교교육의 현황과 과제를 살펴보고 있다.

영문 초록

A multi-cultural society consists of cultural diversity. Such phenomenon stems from an increase in immigrants with different cultural backgrounds and means that not all constituents of cultural groups share the same cultural aspect. Such society intensifies a multi-religious society because immigrants and their own religions are introduced to the society. Therefore, a multi-cultural society paves the way for a frequent dispute among religions. Religious education in a multi-cultural society has no choice but to reflect the multi-religious phenomenon. Such situation calls for religious education that allows for understanding of diverse religions to Korean society’s religious organizations and peace among religions. Unification Church, in this case, is no exception. As multi-cultural education in a multi-cultural society is equal to cultural diversity education, this study understands that religious education in a multi-cultural society is equivalent to multi-religion education, or religious diversity education. Religious diversity education is categorized into understanding diverse religion education and practicing religious peace education. Whereas the former is emphasized in terms of understanding the diversity of religions, the latter is focused not only on understanding religions, but also on maintaining and practicing ethical stances and attitudes for the sake of peace among religions. The purpose of this study is to understand a multi-cultural society’s religious education in this vein and review the status and task of religious education in Unification Church.
