국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 가톨릭계 중등학교 종교교육의 현 실태를 분석하고 이에 따른 문제점을 파악함으로써 가톨릭 교회의 입장을 바탕으로 가톨릭 학교 종교교육에 대한 개선방안을 제언하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 전국의 가톨릭계 중등학교의 종교교사 및 학생들을 대상으로 종교교육과 관련한 현 실태를 조사 및 정리하였다. 그리고 1998년에 이루어진 연구 조사 결과와 비교하여 지난 20여년의 시간 동안 가톨릭계 중등학교 종교교육 및 관련된 환경이 어떻게 변화해 왔는지 추이를 확인하여 종교교육의 변화 정도를 분석함으로써 현재의 문제점과 향후 방향성을 제언하였다. 1998년 조사와 2016년 조사를 비교한 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 종교수업 내용과 관련하여, 종교와 직접적으로 연관된 수업 비중은 감소한 반면, ‘윤리․도덕․인성교육’ 수업 비중은 증가하였다. 종교 교과서에 대한 만족도는 높아졌지만 실제로 사용하는 비중은 반대로 더욱 낮아졌다. 둘째, 종교교육 여건 및 환경과 관련하여, 교직이수 및 서울대학교 종교교사 연수과정을 통해 자격증을 취득한 교사 비율이 증가하였다. 종교교사의 상당수가 교육 여건 및 환경이 개선되지 않았다고 인식하고 있었다. 셋째, 종교교육에 대한 긍정적 인식이 학생과 교사 모두 과거보다 더욱 높아졌음을 확인하였다. 하지만 특별한 이유 없이 부정적으로 종교교육을 인식하는 학생들의 비율이 증가하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 가톨릭 학교 종교교육의 방향성은 다음과 같다: (1) 가톨릭 학교 종교교육의 목적성 확립 (2) 종교 교과서 활용 증대 (3) 학생들의 흥미와 동기를 이끌어내는 종교교육 (4) 종교교사의 양성 및 환경 개선 (5) 정규교과로서의 종교교육 (6) 교육과정에 대한 올바른 인식 (7) 학생들의 특성과 사회의 변화를 반영하는 종교교육.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the current status of religious education in Korean Catholic secondary school and to identify the problems of them, suggesting ways to improve religious education in the Catholic school based on the position of the Catholic Church. For this purpose, this study examined the current state of religion education for religious teachers and students of Catholic secondary schools in Korea. And this study compared the results of the research conducted in 1998, and confirmed the trends in how religious education and related environments of Catholic secondary schools have changed over the past 20 years. So this study suggests current problems and future directions by analyzing the degree of change in religious education. The comparison between the 1998 survey and the 2016 survey is as follows: (1) With regard to the content of religious class, the proportion of classes directly related to religion decreased while the proportion of ‘ethics, moral and personal education’ classes increased. In addition, the satisfaction level with religious textbooks has increased, but the proportion actually used has been lowered. (2) In respect to religious education conditions and the environment, the proportion of teachers who have obtained ‘completion a course in teaching profession’ and ‘Seoul National University Training’ increased. Also, many of the religious teachers themselves recognized that the educational condition and environment did not improve. (3) it was confirmed that both students and teachers had a higher perception of religious education, compared to the past. However, the rate of students, who accepted religious education negatively for no particular reason, increased. The direction of religious education in Catholic schools proposed in this study is as follows: (1) Establishing the objectives of religious education in the catholic school (2) Increase the use of religious textbooks (3) Religious education that attracts students interest and motivation (4) Cultivating and improving the environment of religious teachers (5) Religious education as a regular subject (6) Correct awareness of educational policy (7) Religious education that reflects the characteristics of students and changes in society.
