판소리 세계화의 현황과 미래 전략

국문 초록

판소리는 긴 역사 동안 이야기 노래로 사랑을 받은 한국의 구비예술이다. 소리꾼이 고수의 북장단에 맞추어 긴 시간 동안 공연을 하면서 시대와 사람, 삶과 미래를 노래했다. 이제 판소리는 한국을 넘어서 전 세계인과 함께 공감하고 즐길 준비를 해야 할 시점에 있다. 본 논의에서는 판소리 세계화를 위한 노력과 성과를 바탕으로 미래 전략을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 세계화를 둘러싼 여러 담론의 과정을 살폈다. 다음으로 세계화의 담론 속에서 그간 이루어진 판소리 세계화의 현황을 살펴보았다. 오프라인상에서는 해외 한국문화원와 문화체육관광부를 중심으로 성과를 살펴보았다. 온라인상에서는 최근 유튜브를 중심으로 온라인콘텐츠의 제작이 활성화되면서 다양한 공연, 교육 영상이 외국인용으로 만들어졌음을 확인할 수 있었다. 하지만 음반, 서적, 학술논문 등에 있어서는 해외 사이트에서 접근 가능한 것이 매우 적음을 알 수 있고, 특히 학술교류와 이론서의 번역 교류 등은 아직 많은 과제를 안고 있었다. 모범사례로 프랑스 주재 한국문화원을 중심으로 한 활약과 성과를 제시하였다. 마지막으로 판소리 세계화를 위한 네트워킹의 필요성을 강조하고 네 가지 측면에서 전략을 제안하였다. 첫째는 온오프라인을 통한 판소리 공연 네트워킹, 둘째는 한국문화원의 장기지원을 통한 교육 네트워킹, 셋째는 학술교류와 올바른 다국어 번역을 위한 연구자 네트워킹, 넷째는 디지털 정보화와 온라인 소통을 위한 정책과 홍보 네트워킹이 필요함을 역설하였다. 21세기 판소리는 세계무형문화유산으로서 인류의 문화자산인 동시에 새로운 문화창조에 기여하는 장르가 되어야 한다. 전 세계인이 함께 공감하고 즐기는 예술로서의 발전을 이룰 수 있도록 다양하고 전방위적인 교류와 협력, 지원이 필요하다.

영문 초록

P’ansori is an old and beloved Korean oral tradition of storytelling. In P’ansori, a singer sings about the times, people, life, and the future to the beat of a Gosu drum. The P’ansori tradition must be spread as an art form beyond Korea. In this discussion, we present a networking strategy to globalize the P’ansori. First, we examined the discourse around globalization. Second, we examined the current status of P’ansori networking within the context of globalization. We looked at “offline” performances organized by the overseas Korean Cultural Center and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in the digital realm. we confirmed the presence of performances and educational videos relating to P’ansori and made them, especially for a foreign audience. Most of this content was found on YouTube. However, overseas online access to albums, books, and academic papers is still scant; particularly, very little literature has been translated for academic exchange. The activities and achievements of the Korean Cultural Center in France, for instance, are exemplary cases in such a scenario. Based on these achievements, we suggest four networking strategieswere : networking of P’ansori performances online and offline; educational networking through the long-term support of the Korean Cultural Center; networking among researchers for academic exchange and correct multilingual translation; and policy and public relations networking for digital informatization and online communication. As an intangible cultural heritage of the world, P’ansori should be promoted as a genre that contributes to the creation of new culture, while being preserved as a cultural asset of humankind. Diverse and omnidirectional networking is thus needed so that anyone around the world can enjoy, create, and share P’ansori.
