국문 초록

본 연구에서는 그림책을 활용한 협동활동이 유아의 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 유아들의 흥미, 발달적 수준 및 생활주제를 고려하여 그림책을 선정하고 관련 협동활동을 선정하였다. 그리고 전남 여수시 J1어린이집, J2어린이집에 재원하고 있는 만4세 유아 30명을 선정하여 실험집단에는 ‘그림책을 활용한 협동활동’을 실시하였고, 비교집단에는 그림책으로 동화들려주기를 실시하였다. 3개월 동안 12회기의 실험처치를 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그림책을 활용한 협동활동은 유아의 다문화수용성 증진에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 그림책을 활용한 협동활동은 유아의 다문화수용성 하위요인인 다문화 인식, 다문화 공감, 다문화 개방성, 관계형성능력 증진에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 그림책을 통해 경험한 다문화에 대한 인식을 실제 또래들과의 협동활동에 참여함으로써 내면화 할 수 있었음을 시사한다. 따라서 유아들의 발달적 수준 및 흥미에 맞추어 다양한 다문화수용성 증진 프로그램의 개발과 적용에 대한 추후 연구가 이루어져야 할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to observe the effects that cooperative activities that utilize picture books have on the multicultural acceptability of young children. Picture books were selected and associated cooperative activities were chosen with consideration given to the interest, developmental levels, and life themes of young children. Also, 30 young children of the age of 3 attending J1 Daycare Center and J2 Daycare Center in Yeosu city of Jeollanam province were selected and ‘cooperative activities utilizing picture books’ were conducted on the test group and ‘storytelling with picture books’ was conducted on the comparative group. After conducting a test of 12 sessions over a course of 3 months, the results were as follows. First, it was shown that cooperative activities that utilize picture books have a positive effect on the multicultural acceptability enhancement of young children. Second, cooperative activities that utilize picture books have a positive effect on the sub-factors of multicultural acceptability which are multicultural awareness, multicultural understanding, multicultural openness, and relationship forming skill enhancement. Such results imply that by participating in cooperative activities with peers, young children were able to internalize perceptions regarding the multicultural which they experienced through picture books. Therefore, it is necessary for future studies to be conducted regarding the development and application of various multicultural acceptability enhancement programs that suit the developmental levels and interests of young children.
