초등학생의 퇴적암과 화성암 관찰 활동에 대한 실천적 인식론 분석의 에너지 주제 적용 가능성 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구는 실천적 인식론 분석을 적용하여 퇴적암과 화성암을 관찰할 때 초등학생들의 지식구성을 위한 인지적 과정을 조사한 결과가 에너지 주제에 적용 가능한지를 알아보았다. 연구 참여 학생들이 퇴적암 표본을 직면하여 관찰하는 기준으로서 알갱이의 크기와 색깔이 정착되었다. 알갱이의 육안 관측 여부에 관한 유사성 연관을 통해 네 암석에서 알갱이를 볼 수 있는지에 대한 간극이 해소되었다. 학생들은 퇴적암을 구분하기에 적합한 기준에 관한 인식론적 결정을 교사 언술의 권위에 의존하였다. 학생들이 알갱이의 크기를 기준으로 퇴적암을 관찰할 때는 간극이 해소되었지만, 암석의 색깔을 기준으로 관찰할 때는 간극이 존속되었다. 같은 학생들이 화강암과 현무암 표본을 직면하여 암석의 알갱이가 정착된 언어로 사용되었다. 학생들은 화성암의 알갱이에 대한 언어 게임에 익숙하지 않아서 화강암과 현무암의 알갱이를 구분하는 데 어려움이 있었다. 교사의 도움과 돋보기를 사용한 관찰을 직면하여 화강암과 현무암과 알갱이에 관한 차별성 연관을 통해 두 암석을 구성하는 알갱이의 크기에 관한 간극이 해소되었다. 연구 결과를 근거로 초등학생들의 암석에 대한 지식구성의 인지적 과정을 촉진하려면 암석 관찰에 적합한 기준을 판단할 수 있는 인식론적 접근을 고려해야 하며, 암석의 종류에 따라 암석의 특징을 이해하는 데 필요한 적절한 언어 게임에 학생들이 익숙해져야 함을 제안하였다. 또한, 이 연구의 결과는 에너지 주제의 사례에도 적용 가능함을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the applicability to energy topics of elementary students’ epistemic cognition when observing sedimentary and igneous rocks by practical epistemology analysis. When the participant students encountered four sedimentary rocks, grain size and color as the criteria for observing rocks stood fast to them. Also, a gap whether they could see the grains in four rocks was filled by the similarity relations between rocks in terms of seeing the grains. The students’ epistemological decision on the criteria for observation was dependent upon the teacher’s authority. While the gap was filled when they observed rocks focusing on grain size, it lingered when focusing on the color of rocks. When the same students encountered a granite and a basalt, grains of a rock stood fast to them. Since they were not familiar with the language game on igneous rocks, they felt difficulty recognizing the grains of a granite and a basalt. A gap on the grain size of a granite and a basalt, respectively, was filled by difference relations between the grains and both rocks with encountering the teacher’s utterances and using a magnifier. Based on the results, considering epistemological criteria for observing sedimentary rocks and familiarizing language games for understanding igneous rocks were suggested to facilitate elementary students’ epistemic cognition. Also, it was discussed that the results of this study could be applied to energy topics.
