국문 초록

본 연구는 블렌디드 러닝으로 진행된 문화간 의사소통 수업에 대한 초등영어학습자들의 인식을 조사하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 본 연구는 Byram 모델에 기반하여 그들의 언어학습 과정 중 문화적 역량과 관련된 학습자들의 인식을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 정규 영어시간의 문화코너와 방학캠프 수업 중 Stern의 문화수업 내용과 문화교수법을 적용하였다. 문화간 학습에 대한 학생들의 인식을 심층적인 연구를 위해 질적연구방법으로 반구조화 그룹 인터뷰와 성찰적 기록으로 수집한 데이터를 내용분석 하였다. 본 연구는 62명의 초등학생들(A학교: 28명의 5학년, 6명의 3~4학년, B학교: 28명의 5학년)과 반구조화 그룹면접에 참가한 13명의 학생들(영어 캠프에 참가한 5명, 정규 영어수업을 받은 8명의 학생 - 앞의 자기 성찰기록 참가자에 모두 포함됨)과 2명의 미국 초등학생의 의견을 바탕으로 데이터를 추출하였다. 연구 결과 Byram 모델에서 제시하였듯이 문화기반 수업을 받은 참가자들의 타문화에 대한 인지적 태도와 정의적 태도에 영향을 미친다는 것을 발견하였으며, 블렌디드 러닝을 통해 타문화권 사람들과 교류에 대한 인식도 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구를 토대로 블렌디드 러닝에 기반한 문화간 학습에 대한 후속 연구를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study attempted to investigate how primary students perceived intercultural communicative classes which were mainly conducted based on blended learning. The study employed Byram’s model to analyze students’ perception of the intercultural language learning process. To obtain an in-depth understanding of students’ perception of intercultural learning, the content analysis was conducted with the data collected from semi-structured group interviews and reflective notes in a qualitative research method. The data consisted of 62 Korean primary school students’ reflective notes and semi-structured interviews with 13 students with two extra comments from American primary school students. The result of the study found that Korean participants intercultural attitudes were affected and their awareness of intercultural interaction was raised after taking various cultural lessons. Concerning the result of this study, further research has been suggested for intercultural communicative learning.
