국문 초록

대표강점은 개인의 정체감과 독특성을 가장 잘 반영해주는 성격강점으로서 대표강 점의 인식과 활용은 정신건강 증진에 핵심적인 역할을 한다. 기존에 대표강점 측정 을 위해 널리 사용되고 있는 성격강점척도는 문항 수가 매우 많아서 장시간 검사하 는 것이 어렵거나 다른 척도들과 함께 실시해야 상황에서는 비효율적인 측면이 있 다. 이에 연구자는 효율적으로 개인의 대표강점을 확인할 수 있는 간편형 성격강점 척도인 대표강점질문지(Signature Strengths Inventory: SSI)를 개발하기 위한 예비 연구를 실시하였다. 서울 소재 온라인 대학교에 재학 중인 성인학습자 705명을 대 상으로 대표강점질문지와 성격강점척도, 삶의 만족도 척도, 우울척도를 실시하였 다. 분석 결과, 24개 성격강점 척도의 왜도와 도는 정규성을 위반하지 않는 것으 로 확인되었으며 내적 일치도 계수는 양호한 것으로 판단되었다. 타당도 분석을 위 해 대표강점 질문지와 관련 척도와의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 대표강점 질문지와 성격강점척도 간 24개 성격강점별 상관계수는 모두 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나 타났다. 대표강점 질문지의 순위 평균점수와 성격강점척도의 순위 평균점수 간 Spearman 상관계수는 .74로 높게 나타났으며, 상위 5개 강점의 일치율은 80%로 5개 중에서 4개가 일치하는 것으로 확인되었다. 대표강점질문지의 24개 성격강점은 삶의 만족도와 모두 유의한 정적 상관을 보였으며, 우울과도 대부분 유의한 부적 상관을 갖는 것으로 관찰되었다. 마지막으로 이 연구의 한계점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The Signature Strengths are the most essential character strengths for a person s identity and uniqueness. The identification and utilization of one s signature strengths can promote mental health. The Character Strengths Test (CST) which is widely used for measuring signature strengths has excessive numbers of item that it may be inefficient in some situations, such as when there is not enough time or when it needs to be conducted with other measures. The purpose of this study is to conduct a preliminary investigation for developing the Signature Strengths Inventory (SSI), which is more efficient in identifying one s signature strengths. Signature Strengths Inventory, Character Strengths Test, Satisfaction with Life Scale, and CES-D were administered to 705 adult learners who attended online colleges in Seoul. Results showed that skewness and kurtosis of 24 character strengths scales met normality, and the internal consistency was adequate. The correlation analysis of the SSI with the CST showed that all of correlation coefficients were statistically significant. The rank-order correlation of the SSI with the CST was 74 and the concordance rate of top five character strengths was 80%, which means four out of five were identical. All of 24 character strengths by SSI showed significantly positive correlations with satisfaction in life and almost all of them showed significantly negative correlations with depression. Finally limitations of this study and suggestions for further research were discussed.
