국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 다문화가정의 어머니가 교사와 의사소통을 하려는 동기와 교사가 다문화가정 어머니와의 의사소통에서 경험한 특성 및 교사가 의사소통에 활용하는 전략에 대하여 알아보고자 하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 국공립 ․ 민간 어린이집 교사로서 다문화가정 유아를 지도한 경험이 2년 이상의 교사 10명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 교사들이 지각한 다문화가정 어머니가 교사와 의사소통하려는 동기는 서로 다른 문화와 정서 이해하기, 교육방식 이해와 어린이집에 대한 정보, 교사와의 긍정적인 관계유지에 대한 정보를 알고자 하였다. 둘째, 교사가 다문화가정 어머니와의 의사소통에서 경험한 특성은 다문화가정 어머니의 적극적인 삶의 태도, 교사가 가지고 있는 국적 간의 편견, 한국아버지 스스로의 편견으로 나타났다. 셋째, 교사가 다문화가정 어머니와의 의사소통을 위한 전략은 소그룹 부모교육, 일대일 멘토링, 지속적인 관심-교사 연임제가 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This research focused on motives in which mothers from multi-cultural families trying to communicate with teachers and the characteristics and strategies in early childhood teachers perceptions on mother-teacher communication. Ten teachers from both public and private child care centers who have taken care of children with multi-cultural backgrounds more than 2 years were interviewed. The results of the research were as follows: first, motives of mother-teacher communication were understanding different cultural atmospheres and ways of education, information on child care centers and building positive mother-teacher relationships; second, characteristics of the communication showed that mothers from multi-cultural families trying to overcome cultural barriers with active, positive attitudes, while teachers and fathers showed racial biases; third, strategies which should be developed for better communication between teachers and mothers were small group meetings for mothers, a man-to-man mentoring system, persistent concerns and long-term devotions of teachers in charge.
