장난감이 없는 사찰에서 나타난 유아 놀이의 의미 탐색

국문 초록

연구목적: 유아 중심․놀이 중심을 강조하는 현 교육과정에 맞추어 유아의 진정한 놀이와 장난감에 대한 재조명이 필요하다. 본 연구는 장난감이 없는 환경에서 발현되는 놀이를 기반으로 유아의 진정한 놀이와 장난감에 대한 재해석을 하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 본 연구는 사찰에서 일어나는 유아의 자발적인 놀이를 참여관찰, 심층면담, 현장노트 및 기타 관련 자료 수집 등을 통하여 분석하였다. 연구결과: 장난감이 없는 사찰에서 유아는 스님놀이를 하고, 자연과 재활용품을 이용하여 다양한 놀이를 하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 유아의 놀이는 무소유를 통한 절약, 절제의 행동을 실천하고 자연친화적인 태도를 함양하고 중중무진연기(공동체 지향교육)를 통한 유아의 친사회성이 함양되었다는 점에서 불교 철학적인 관점에서 의미가 있다. 또한, 유아의 발달론적인 관점에서 유아의 놀이는 능동적으로 환경과 계속 상호작용하며 지식을 구성하고, 창의성을 발현시키며, 놀이에 몰입하여 즐거워하는 것으로 의미가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 장난감이 없는 환경에서 유아는 충분한 시간과 공간 속에서 유아 주도적인 의미 있는 진짜 놀이가 발현되는 것을 알 수 있다. 이에 유아교육현장에서 장난감의 새로운 의미를 재조명하고, 유아의 놀이에 대한 경험을 연구할 것을 제안하는 바이다.

영문 초록

Objective: Following the current child-centered and play-oriented curriculum, it is necessary to re-examine the true play and toys of young children. This study explores the meaning of children’s true play and toys based on their play in an environment without toys by observing their play in a temple without toys. Methods: During the project period, the children playing games were observed and interviewed. Subsequently, an onsite memo and other relevant data were collected and analyzed. Results: In the temple without toys, it was found that children played various games including pretend play like monks, unstructured free play using nature and recycled products. The analysis results indicated that the process of making children play independently with toys was meaningful from the viewpoints of Buddhism and developmental theory. Conclusions: The results of this study show that if there is an environment without toys, children tend to engage in meaningful games in sufficient time and space. Therefore, future research must re-examine the new meaning of toys in the field of early childhood education and study the experiences of children’s play.
