국문 초록

본 연구에서는 다양한 교육적 요소를 지닌 스토리텔링을 활용하여 시각적 현상이 범람하는 현대사회에 성장하는 초등학생을 위한 시각문화 비판적 읽기(critical reading)미술수업을 제안하였다. 스토리텔링은 동일화효과, 감정이입효과, 설계의 용이성, 화자와 청자의 상호성 등의 요소를 지니고 있어 여러 학문분야에서 사용될 뿐만 아니라교육학에서도 부단히 연구되며 사용되고 있는 교육법이다. 설계한 수업의 근간을 던컴(Duncum)이 제시한 시각문화미술교육의 기본적 목표인 ‘역량 강화(empowerment)’에 두어 스스로 의미를 찾아낼 수 있는 비판적 이해력 키우기 수업을 학생들의 수준과상황에 맞추어 계획하였다. 또한 시각문화와 스토리텔링에 관련된 문헌자료를 기초로하여 현시대와 흐름에 맞는 수업을 모색하였으며 학생과 밀접한 생활 속에서 시각적현상을 탐구하는데 중점을 두었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 스토리텔링교육법의 긍정적요소를 시각적 현상을 접하였을 때 그것을 인지, 분석, 재창조 과정에 활용하여 학생의 비판적 사고력에 어떠한 긍정적 변화를 이끌어 내는지 알아보았다. 이를 바탕으로학교현장에서 사용될 수 있는 실천 가능한 수업사례를 제시한다는 점에 본 연구의 의의를 둔다.

영문 초록

The development of technologies make our life comfortable but include some problems. The development has created environment in which you can indulge in the infinite visual world, through reproduction and real-time communication. Therefore, the visual culture art education(VCAE) have become essential. Domestic education scholars have come up with their research results on the visual culture education through various methodologies, which implies a change from the fragmentary one. Thus we designed a fine art lesson in critically reading the visual culture, utilizing storytelling for students who are leading a life full of visual images. Storytelling and 2W-H activity sheets that we devised were used in the lesson. The result is as following: The critical reading lesson on the visual culture, utilizing storytelling, was found to have positive influences. The participation and the interest of the students were much higher in the lesson using storytelling than in the previous appreciation lesson. The activity-sheet activities were also found to have helped enhance the appreciation abilities. This can be recognized in the evaluation result of the lesson which was made through a questionnaire after the lesson, where most students (more than 70%) answered positively that their critical thinking abilities were improved through the storytelling. Such a result shows that the visual literacy lesson using storytelling is meaningful. The necessity of the VCAE is fast growing. However, we are short of schooling for it. So research should be made on the various methods and areas of the VCAE.
