국문 초록

본 연구는 참여 예술과 예술교육 간의 교차 현상을 규명하기 위하여 관계적 참여 예술, 반목적 참여 예술, 행동주의 참여 예술, 시민참여 예술 등으로 구분되는 참여 예술의 현주소를 살펴보고, 이들 참여 예술의 예술적 실천과정에서 작동하고 있는 운영 양식을 분석적으로 검토하였다. 참여 예술의 운영 양식에 대한 분석을 통해 참여적 예술 실천이 내포하고 있는 세 가지 특징적인 요소를 파악할 수 있었는데, 이는 ‘공동체에의 관심’, ‘관계와 담화의 강조’ 그리고 ‘참여과정을 통한 의미 창출’이다. 이러한 예술적 실천의 특징은 참여적 예술작업과 교육적 실천이 교차하는 공간을 열어주는 것으로, 이 세 가지 참여 예술적 실천원리는 교육적 실천에 접목되는 경우 예술교육의 내재적·외재적 가치를 제고할 수 있는 잠재력을 가지고 있는 것으로 파악된다. 이에 본 연구는 참여적 예술 실천이 가지는 교육학적 가치를 활용할 수 있는 미술교육 발전과제로서 주류 예술로서 참여 예술을 소개하기, 참여 예술 기반 교수·학습방법 개발하기, 예술강사에 대한 관점의 전환과 파트너십 강화하기, 참여 예술의 실천모형을 교사연수에 도입하기 등을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is twofold. The first is to examine the modes of operation of participatory art, and analyze the nature and qualities of interactions and connections that occur within participatory art practices. The second is to find out the implications of participatory art practice to offer ways to rethink the language and practice of visual arts education pedagogy. Based on the analysis of participatory art practices, we can identify three predominant features of the practices, namely, “the community-oriented”, “the relations-oriented” and “the process-oriented”. These features can open up an area of crossover between the making of participatory artworks and pedagogical practice. Also, the pedagogical practice imbricated with participatory art practice is likely to enhance the intrinsic and extrinsic values of arts education. In that participatory art practice permits for a more emancipatory pedagogical and creative enterprise, I propose to introduce participatory arts in visual arts curriculum, develop the pedagogic model of “participatory art based learning”, like design based learning, facilitate the collaborative and co-constructed engagement between teachers and teaching artists, and utilize the participatory art practice to rebuild the competencies of teachers and pre-service teachers.
