고등학교 교과서에 나타난 직업 관련 내용 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 직업에 관한 내용이 교과서에 어떻게 기술되어 있는지를 파악하기 위하여 교과서 상에 직업 분포와 인식 실태를 분석하고, 이를 토대로 학교 현장에서 청소년들이 올바른 직업관과 직업소양을 함양할 수 있는 교과서 개발 및 활용을 위한 개선 과제를 제안하는 데에 목적이 있다. 교과서의 직업 제시 내용을 분석하기 위하여 문헌 분석 및 전문가 검토를 통해 교과서 분석 영역과 분석틀을 개발하였다. 분석 대상을 선정하기 위하여 고등학교 보통교과 10개 교과목의 교육과정을 분석하였으며, 교육과정의 성격, 목표, 내용에 ‘일-직업 관련 이해 및 선택’ 등의 내용을 제시한 7개 교과, 16종의 교과서를 선정하였다. 선정된 교과는 사회(3종), 경제(3종), 법과 정치(1종), 사회·문화(3종), 생활과 윤리(2종), 기술·가정(3종), 진로와 직업(1종)이다. 각 교과의 내용 이해와 객관성 확보를 위하여 전문성 및 전공을 고려하여 교과서 분석경험이 있는 고등학교 교사 4명과 대학 교수 2명 등 총 6명을 교과서 내용 분석 전문가로 구성하였다. 첫째, 교과서의 직업 제시 내용은 총 2,950건이며, 직업 제시의 다양성 및 묘사가 실제 직업 종사자 분포와불일치하는 경향을 보였다. 둘째, 교과서에 제시된 직업의 종류는 1,140개로 현재 우리나라 직업사전에 제시된직업의 10% 수준으로 제시하고 있었다. 셋째, 교과서에 제시된 직업에 대한 인식은 직업군에 따라 차이를 보였으며, 전문직의 경우 긍정적 기술이, 단순 노무직은 상대적으로 부정적 기술이 많이 나타났다. 특히 저자의 의도와는 무관하게 학생들에게 직업(고용)에 대해 왜곡된 관념을 강화하는 기술도 나타나 직업에 대한 편향을 강화하는 사례도 발견되어 개선이 필요하다. 향후 청소년의 올바른 직업관과 직업 소양을 함양할 수 있는 교과서 개선을 위하여 교과서 분석 결과를 바탕으로 정책, 편찬 개선, 후속 연구 측면에서 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze occupational distributions and recognitions in textbooks to understand how textbooks describe occupation related content and suggest tasks for improvement in developing and using textbooks in order for juveniles to cultivate a proper occupational view and acquirements in a school field. To analyze occupation-suggested content in textbooks, analytic area and a frame for textbooks were developed by literature analysis and a professional review. Curricula of 10 high school regular subjects were analyzed to select analytic objects, and 7 subjects, 16 kinds of textbooks that presented content of ‘Work-Occupation Related Understanding & Selection’ on the character, aim and content of a curriculum were selected. Subjects selected contained Social Studies(3 kinds), Economics(3 kinds), Law & Politics(1 kind), Society·Culture(3 kinds), Life & Ethics(2 kinds), Technology & Home Economics(3 kinds) and Career & Vocation(1 kind). To understand the content of each subject and ensure objectivity, this study organized 6 specialists consisted of 4 high school teachers and 2 professors having experience in textbook analysis with specialty and major for textbook content analysis taken into consideration. Firstly, in textbooks, the number of content suggesting occupations was 2,950, and diversity and description of occupational presentation tended not to correspond to the distribution of actual workers. Secondly, the kinds of occupations suggested in textbooks are 1,140, taking up about 10% of occupations suggested now in our nation``s vocational dictionary. Thirdly, there was difference in recognition on occupations suggested in textbooks according to an occupational cluster. Relatively, porofessions received more positive views whereas simple laborers received more negative descriptions. Particularly, descriptions or cases to reinforce a distorted idea and bias against an occupation(employment) for students were found regardless of the intention of an author thus improvements are needed. This study gave suggestions for policies, compilations and follow-up researches based on textbook analysis findings to improve textbooks for cultivating juveniles’ proper occupational view and acquirements.
