국문 초록

이 논문은 한국어 문법 항목의 의미를 어떻게 기술하여야 하는지 그 방향을 논의하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 우리는 현재의 의미 기술의 양상을 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 더 나은 기술의 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 본고에서는 한국어 문법 항목의 의미는 학습자로 하여금 문법적 선택을 도와주는 정보로 규정하였고 그러한 관점에서 의미 기술은 세 가지를 지향해야 한다고 논의하였다. 첫째, 한국어 문법 항목의 의미는 담화 층위 정보와 문장 층위 정보를 구분하여 기술하여야 한다. 둘째, 문장 층위의 정보는 분산하지 말고 한데 모아서 기술하는 것이 교수자와 학습자에게 도움이 된다. 셋째, 연결 형식의 문장 의미는 1) 선행절과 후행절의 의미적 관계, 2) 선행절의 의미, 3) 후행절의 의미, 4) 기타(강조와 같은 수사적 효과 등)으로 체계화하여야 한다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to find out the direction of how to describe the meaning of grammar items. We focused on the way to describe the meaning of the Korean connective forms for clauses from the perspective of Korean learners as Korean users. The results of the discussion are as follows: 1) Discourse-level and sentence-level information should be described separately. 2) Sentence-level semantic information should be gathered and described rather than distributed. 3) For advanced learners, category-oriented descriptions that cover the entire category are more appropriate than individual item-oriented descriptions. Based on this discussion, we suggested that the meaning of the sentence can be described systematically by subdividing the meaning of the sentence into categorical and individual meanings, and subdividing the individual meanings into meanings of the preceding clause, meanings of the latter clauses, and other meanings.
