단도박자의 열등감 극복 체험

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 열등감이 도박중독과 어떤 관련성이 있으며, 도박자가 회복과정에서 열등감을 어떻게 극복하는지를 탐구하는 데 있다. 연구의 목적 달성을 위해 도박중독 경험이 있는 단도박자 9명과 1:1 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집했다. 수집된 자료는 Giorgi가 제안한 현상학적 방법으로 분석했으며 Padgett이 제안한 6가지 엄격성 유지 전략으로 엄격성을 유지하였다. 분석 결과, ‘경제적 열등감’, ‘최고의 열등감 극복 수단(도박)’, ‘일시적 우월감’, ‘좌절과 미련’, ‘새로운 열등감’, ‘지지체계 구축’, ‘마음 다스리기’, ‘대안적 활동’, ‘만족감 습득’을 포함하는 9개 주제를 도출 할 수 있었다. 또한 도출된 주제들을 종합하여 ‘도박의 동기로 작용한 열등감을 지지체계 구축, 마음 다스리기, 대안적 활동으로 극복하고 만족감 습득하기’라는 본질적 주제를 도출했다. 이를 바탕으로 연구자들은 열등감을 극복할 수 있는 몇 가지 대안들을 제시했다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore how inferiority complex is related to gambling addiction and how gamblers overcome inferiority in the course of recovery. To achieve the purpose of the study, we collected data through in-depth interviews with 9 people who have overcome gambling addiction. The collected data were analyzed using Giorgi s proposed phenomenological method, and the rigor was achieved by employing Padgett s proposed six strategies. The analyses brought forth six themes including economic inferiority complex , best way to overcome inferiority complex (gambling) , temporary superiority , ‘frustration and lingering affection’, new inferiority complex , ‘building support systems, ‘mind control’, alternative activities and finding satisfaction . In addition, the essential theme of finding satisfaction from mind control and alternative activities to resolve inferiority complex that once motivated gambling addiction was derived by synthesizing the themes. Based on the findings, researchers proposed several alternative ways to overcome the sense of inferiority complex.
