국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년기 자녀를 둔 어머니들의 자녀 진로관여 경험을 분석하기 위해 12명의 어머니를 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하고 Strauss와 Corbin(1998)의 근거이론을 적용하였다. 어머니의 진로관여 경험에서 중심현상은 ‘끌어줌과 맡김 사이를 오가며 자녀를 위한 길을 모색함’이었다. 그리고 이를 발생시키는 인과적 조건, 사회․문화적 배경을 포함하는 맥락적 조건, 중심현상에 대처하기 위한 전략과 이 전략을 조절하고 촉진하는 중재적 조건을 밝혔다. 어머니의 진로관여는 ‘집중 및 탐색’, ‘고심 및 시행착오’, ‘반성과 조정’, ‘물러남과 재정의’ 단계를 거치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 청소년의 진로발달에 큰 영향을 미치는 ‘어머니’ 요인에 초점을 맞추어 어머니의 진로관여 경험의 실제와 특성을 설명하고 그것에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색함으로써, 청소년 진로지도의 주요 요소인 어머니 개입을 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore mothers’ experience on their involvement in the careers of their adolescent children and develop a substantial theory based on the results. To address the goal, as participants, this author selected 12 mothers and conducted in-depth interviews with them. The major phenomenon of mothers’ experience in career involvement is ‘to come and go between leading and entrusting and seeking a path for their child.’ This author analyzed actions/interactions influenced by above intervening conditions by time, location,’ ‘consideration and trial and error,’ ‘reflection and adjustment,’ and ‘withdrawal and redefinition.’ This study is significant in that it has concretized the practice and characteristics of career involvement focusing on the inner aspects of a ‘mother,’ the factor crucially influencing adolescents’ career development and explored factors related to it. In this way, this author has been able to provide implications for career counseling for adolescents and their parents’ education.
