클라이언트 자살이 정신건강사회복지사에게 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 정신건강사회복지사의 클라이언트 자살경험과 클라이언트 자살경험에 따른 정신건강사회복지사의 외상 후 스트레스, 우울, 음주특성의 차이를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 277명의 정신건강사회복지사가 응답한 자료를 분석하였다. 연구의 주요 결과는, 첫째, 정신건강사회복지사의 25.5%가 클라이언트 자살시도, 35%가 자살을 경험한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정신건강사회복지사의 23.8%가 가벼운 수준 이상의 외상 후 스트레스 증상, 39.6% 이상이 경증 이상의 우울을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 정신건강사회복지사의 음주빈도는 주 2-3회 이상이 11.2%, 음주량은 소주 1병 이상이 13.5%, 폭음빈도는 주 1회 이상이 8.7%로 나타났다. 넷째, 클라이언트 자살경험에 따른 외상 후 스트레스 증상은 자살을 경험한 정신건강사회복지사가 가장 높게 나타났으며, 사후검정에서도 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 폭음빈도는 자살시도를 경험한 정신건강사회복지사가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났으며 사후검정에서도 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과의 함의와 정신건강사회복지사의 정신건강의 예방 및 개입방법에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study is to confirm the difference among the post-traumatic stress, depression, and drinking characteristics by the mental health social workers after experiencing suicide of client. To this end, survey answers from 277 mental health social workers were analyzed. Five key results were identified. First of all, 25.5% of mental health social workers experienced suicide attempt of clients, while 35% experienced suicide completion of the client. Second, the ratio of mental health social workers who experienced more than minor level of post-traumatic stress, and more than mild depression are 23.8% and 39.6%, respectively. Third, 11.2% of mental health social worker answered that they consume alcohol 2-3 times a week, 13.5% answered consumption of more than 1 bottle of soju, and 8.7% answered excessive drinking of more than once a week. Forth, mental health social workers with experience of client suicide completion illustrated the strongest symptoms of post-traumatic stress, which was statistically significant during the Post Hoc, as well. Frequency of excessive drinking is the highest among the mental health social workers who experienced suicide attempt of client, which was also statistically significant during the Post Hoc. Implication from the result of the study, and measures of prevention and intervention related to the mental health of mental health social workers are discussed in this study.
