국문 초록

이 연구는 시각장애여성의 외모관리행동과 행복감 및 삶의 질 수준과 각 변인별 차이를 알아보고, 시각장애여성의 배경변인과 외모관리행동이 행복감 및 삶의 질에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구를 위해 시각장애여성 459명의 응답 설문자료를 분석하였으며, 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시각장애여성의 외모관리행동 중 체형 및 의복 관리행동이 가장 활발하게 나타났고, 성형 및 전문 관리는 상대적으로 낮게 나타났으며, 생애주기, 경제활동 상태, 가족의 전체 수입, 주관적 건강 상태에 따라 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 시각장애여성의 행복감 수준은 평균 3.51로 다소 높은 수준인 것으로 나타났고, 생애주기, 경제활동 상태, 거주 지역, 실명 시기 및 손상 정도, 주관적 건강 상태에 따라 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 시각장애여성의 삶의 질은 평균 3.28로 보통 수준인 것으로 나타났고, 신체적 건강 영역의 삶의 질이 상대적으로 낮게 나타났으며, 생애주기, 경제활동 상태, 가족의 전체 수입, 거주 지역, 주관적 건강 상태에 따라 차이를 보였다. 넷째, 시각장애여성의 행복감 및 삶의 질에 대한 배경변인 및 외모관리행동의 상대적 영향력을 알아본 결과, 주관적 건강 상태, 생애주기, 경제 활동 상태, 최종 학력, 거주 지역이 영향력이 있는 것으로 나타났고, 외모관리행동의 하위유형인 체형 및 외모관리행동과 화장 및 헤어관리행동이 정적 영향력이 있으며, 성형 및 전문관리행동이 부적 영향력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 토대로 시각장애여성의 행복감 및 삶의 질 증진을 모색하기 위한 평생교육적 개입 방안에 대하여 몇 가지 논의하고 후속 연구에 대해 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This Study aims to examine the difference between the level of appearance management behavior, happiness and quality of life of visually impaired women and each variable, and further analyze the relative effects of their background variables and appearance management behaviors on happiness and quality of life. For research, questionnaire data collected from 459 visually impaired women were analyzed and major results are shown as follows. First, body shape and clothes management activities were the most active among their appearance management behaviors. However, plastic surgery and professional management were relatively lower. Differences were observed according to lifecycle, economic activity status, entire family income, and subjective health condition. Second, the level of happiness of visually impaired women gained 3.51 points in average, which reached a slightly higher level. It varied according to lifecycle, economic activity, residential region, time of blindness and degree of impairment, and subjective health condition. Third, the average quality of life turned out 3.28 points, which was normal and the quality of life in the field of physical health was relatively lower. Results differed according to lifecycle, economic activity, entire family income, residential region, and subjective health condition. Fourth, the effects of background variables on happiness and quality of life and relative influence of appearance management behaviors of visually impaired women showed that subjective health condition, lifecycle, economic activity status, final academic background and residential region were influential. Body shape, clothes management, and cosmetics as well as hairstyle management as subfactors of appearance management behaviors showed positive impacts on. On the contrary, plastic surgery and professional management behaviors showed negative impacts. A couple of entire life-long educational interventions were discussed and follow-up research was proposed to explore the enhancement of happiness and quality of life of visually impaired women based on the above findings.
