국문 초록

본 연구는 바니타스 미술이 애도미술치료에 주는 의미를 분석심리학적 관점으로 살펴보고자 한다. 바니타스 미술의 탄생 배경 및 역사를 통해 주제의 변화를 알아보고, 바니타스 미술의 구성요소를 분석심리학적으로 살펴봄으로써 바니타스 미술이 애도미술치료에 어떤 의미를 주는가에 대해 고찰할 것이다. 바니타스 미술은 17세기경 네덜란드를 중심으로 성행한 회화 장르로서 삶과 죽음의 사유를 포함하는 이미지로 알려져 있으며, 바니타스 미술의 주요 구성요소들은 꽃, 거울, 시계, 책, 촛불, 해골 등이다. 이러한 구성요소 중 삶과 죽음의 대비를 가장 극명하게 보여주는 ‘꽃’과 ‘해골’이 그려진 미술 작품들을 통해 꽃과 해골의 이미지가 내포하는 의미를 분석심리학적으로 살펴보았다. 그리고, 애도과정에 대한 의미를 분석심리학적 관점으로 고찰하였다. 결국 분석심리학적 관점에서 애도는, 애도자가 고통에서 의미를 찾고 삶과 죽음이라는 대극을 포함한 전체성을 향해가는 개성화 과정이라 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 이 연구는 삶과 죽음의 이미지, 그리고 고통 속에서 의미를 발견하는 개성화 과정에 대한 이론적 배경을 제공하기에 애도미술치료 연구에 도움이 될 것으로 본다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the meaning of vanitas art in mourning art therapy from Jung’s analytic psychological perspective. I will explane the changes in themes through the background and history of the birth of vanitas art, and examine the components of vanitas art through an analytic psychological perspective, to understand what vanitas art means to mourning art therapy. Vanitas art is a painting genre that emerged in the Netherlands around the 17th century. It contains images of life and death. The main components of vanitas art are flowers, mirrors, clocks, books, candles and skulls. Among these components, the meaning of the images of flowers and skeletons was analyzed psychologically through the art works of flowers and skeletons , which most clearly showed the contrast of life and death. Additionally, the meaning of the mourning process was considered from an analytic psychological perspective. Finally, from this perspective, mourning can be seen as a process of individualization in which a mourner seeks meaning in pain and toward the whole, including the opposite of life and death. Therefore, this research will contribute to the study of mourning art therapy by providing the theoretical background about the images of life and death, and the individualization process of finding meaning in pain.
