국문 초록

본 연구는 연극치료에서 몸 중심 접근법에 대해 정리하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 수 제닝스의 체현(embodiment)과 데이비드 리드 존슨의 발달변형(Developmental Transformation)개념을 통해 몸이 어떻게 연극치료 작업에서 자기인식(self-awareness)에 기여하는지 간략하게 살펴본 다음, 필 존스가 말하는 ‘연극적 몸’의 개념을 바탕으로 그것이 수행하는 기능적 측면에 대해 알아보았다. ‘연극적 몸’은 연극치료 작업에서 다음과 같은 세가지 기능-감각느낌과 알아차림, 역할입기와 상상, 자기초월과 변형-을 수행함을 알 수 있었다. 첫 번째 ‘감각하는 몸’은 메를로-퐁티가 말한 현상학적인 몸 즉, 고유한 몸 개념과 일치하며, 현전적 미적 경험에 해당된다는것을 살펴보았다. 두 번째 ‘상상하는 몸’은 지각을 불러일으키고, 지각은 변형을 이끌어내어 내가 아닌 다른 존재로 변신하도록 할 수 있었다. 이는 역할입기에 해당하는 작업이므로, 세 가지 몸 중 가장 ‘연극적인 몸’이라고 할 수 있다. 세 번째 ‘변화하는 몸’은 일상을 넘어선 초월적 현상과도 같아서 가장 근원적인 실체와의 만남이라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The main aim of this study is to illustrate the body-centred approaches in dramatherapy. First of all, the study will briefly discuss how the body can contribute to self-awareness in dramatherapy process, based on the concepts of ‘embodiment’ by Sue Jennings and ‘Developmental Tranformation’ by David Read Johnson. Then, the study will further elaborate on functional aspect of the body by using the notion of ‘the dramatic body’ by Phil Jones. During the dramatherapy process, the dramatic body functioned as following roles: feeling senses and awareness; role playing and imagination; and self-transcendence and transformation. First, the ‘sensing body’ corresponded to the concept of ‘phenomenological body’- the original definition of the body- by Merleau-Ponty and could be understood as presentative aesthetical experiences. Second, the ‘imagining body’ brought about awareness and this enabled transforming the persona into the other one. Among three different bodies, this would be the most ‘dramatic body’ as this can be viewed as role playing. Lastly, the ‘transforming body’ would be referred to as meeting the most fundamental substance as it is similar to transcendental phenomenon beyond the reality.
