초기 청소년의 학대경험과 사이버불링 경향성의 관계에서 전위공격성의 매개효과

국문 초록

사이버불링은 비교적 최근에 조명을 받기 시작한 학교폭력의 유형으로, 사이버불링을 야기하는 요인에 대한 연구는 현재 상당히 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 청소년 사이버불링의 원인적 요인으로 부모로부터 받은 학대경험에 주목하여, 학대경험이 사이버불링 경향성에 미치는 영향을 탐색하고 이 관계에서 전위공격성의 매개 역할을 검증해 보고자 하였다. 특히 본 연구는 사이버불링 현상이 심각하게 발생하는 초기 청소년들을 대상으로 하여 매개모형을 검증하였다. 연구를 위해 서울 소재 초등학교의 6학년생들과 중학교의 1, 2, 3학년생들에게 부모로부터의 학대경험, 전위공격성, 사이버불링 경향성을 측정하는 설문지를 완성하도록 요구하였다. 남학생 625명, 여학생 566명, 총 1191명이 연구에 참가하였고, 이들로부터의 자료가 분석에 활용되었다. 먼저 변인 간 상관을 살펴본 결과, 청소년의 학대경험, 전위공격성, 사이버불링 경향성은 모두 서로 간 유의한 정적 상관을 나타내고 있었다. 다음으로 매개모형의 타당성을 검증한 결과, 전위공격성은 학대경험과 사이버불링 경향성 간의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 부분매개는 학대경험 전반에서뿐 아니라 방임, 정서학대, 신체학대의 학대경험 하위유형에서도 동일하게 나타났다. 연구를 통해 청소년의 사이버불링 문제에 부모의 자녀학대라는 가족적 경험과 전위공격성이라는 청소년 개인내 변인이 중요하게 작용함을 알 수 있었고, 가족학대는 청소년 사이버불링 문제에 직접적 영향을 미치는 동시에 전위공격성을 높여 사이버불링으로 가게 하는 간접적 방법으로도 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Objectives: Despite the increasing research interests in adolescent cyberbullying, studies to explore its causal factors are still lacking. Given the situation, this study aimed to explore the effects of early adolescents’ abuse experiences by parents on cyberbullying tendencies and to test the potential mediation of displaced aggression between these two variables. Methods: Sixth graders and junior high school students from the Seoul metropolitan area were asked to complete pencil-and-paper questionnaires assessing child abuse experiences, displaced aggression, and cyberbullying tendencies. A total of 1,191 students (625 males and 566 females) participated in the study, and data from these participants were analyzed. Results: Correlation analyses showed a significant positive correlation between child abuse experiences and adolescents cyberbullying tendencies. The analyses also showed significant positive correlations between child abuse experiences and displaced aggression, and between displaced aggression and cyberbullying tendencies. Regression analyses were used to test the validity of the mediation model and found that displaced aggression partially mediated between adolescents experiences of child abuse and cyberbullying tendencies. The partial mediation was found not only in abuse experiences in general but also in each of three subtypes of child abuse: neglect, emotional abuse, and physical abuse. Conclusions: This study suggests that adolescents’ abuse experiences and their inner displaced aggression together play important roles in the development of cyberbullying problems. Particularly, child abuse has both direct effects and indirect effects, through the mediation of displaced aggression, on adolescents cyberbullying.
