학습부진 초등학생의 학교생활 적응과 학습활동 향상을 위한 미술치료 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 미술치료가 학습부진 초등학생의 학교생활 적응과 학습활동 향상에 효과가 있는지를 알아보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상 아동은 ○○도 K시에 거주하고 있는 학습부진 초등학생 5학년 남학생 1명과 6학 년 남학생 1명이며, 2011년 4월부터 8월까지 총 18회기에 걸쳐 주 1회 90분씩 개별적으로 진행하였다. 본 연구 에 사용된 연구도구는 다차원인성검사의 학교생활적응요인과 학습능력검사의 학습활동요인을 사전과 사후에 검사하였고, 결과분석을 위하여 각 회기의 활동을 관찰하고 기록하면서 학교생활 적응과 학습활동의 구체적 행 동 및 태도의 변화를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술치료가 연구대상 아동의 학교생활 적응을 향상 시킨 것으로 나타났다. 학교생활적응의 하위영역인 학교생활만족도, 교우관계 만족도, 학교공부만 족도 점수가 모두 상승하고 학교생활적응의 구체적 행동 및 태도의 목표를 실천하면서 긍정적으로 변화시키는 효과를 볼 수 있었다. 둘째, 미술치료가 연구대상 아동의 학습활동을 향상시킨 것으로 나타났다. 학습활동의 하 위 영역인 집중력, 기억력, 실행력, 학습동기 점수가 모두 상승하고 학습활동의 구체적 행동 및 태도의 목표를 성취하는 긍정적인 효과를 볼 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때 미술치료가 학습부진 초등학생의 학교생활 적응 력과 학습활동을 향상시키는데 효과적으로 적용되었음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the effects of art therapy on low achieving elementary school students. 2 low achieving students, one in the 5th and the other in the 6th grade living in an urban setting participated in the study. The participants received art therapy individually, which ran for 18 sessions, once a week, each session 90 minutes long. The instruments for this study were the school adaptation factors from the multi-dimensional personality test and the learning activity factors from the learning ability test. These instruments were administered before and after the therapy. The participants were observed during the session and the changes detected in their behavior related to their school adaptation and learning activities were recorded and analyzed. First the study found that art therapy improved the participants' school adaptation. The subcategories of the school adaptation factors including the satisfaction degree of school life, that of peer relationship, and that of school learning showed an increase in scores, an indication that the therapy helped the participants achieve their goals and make positive change with their school adaptation. Second, art therapy improved the participants' learning activities. The subcategories of the learning activity factors including concentration, memories, executive skills, and motivation in learning showed an increase in scores, an indication that the therapy helped the participants achieve their goals and make positive change with their learning activities. These findings suggest that art therapy was effective in improving the school adaptation and learning activities of low achieving elementary school students.
