의과대학 문제기반학습에서 튜터 수행 및 집단 효능감이 학업성취와 학습자 만족도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

의과대학 문제기반학습(PBL)에서 튜터 수행이 학습결과에 미치는 영향이 적지 않음에도 불구하고, 튜 터 수행이 PBL 학습결과에 미치는 영향에 관해 살펴본 연구는 많지 않다. 또한 PBL은 협력학습이므 로 협력학습에서의 동기요소인 집단 효능감이 PBL 학습결과에 영향을 미칠 것으로 생각되지만, 이와 관련한 연구 또한 거의 없는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 보통 7-8명으로 구성된 소그룹에서 튜터와 함께 학습하는 의과대학 PBL에서 학습자들이 지각하는 튜터 수행과 집단 효능감이 학습결과(학업성 취와 학습자 만족도)에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 51명의 의과대학 2학년 학생이 본 연구에 참여하 였고 그 중에서 49명의 데이터가 분석되었다. 이들은 일주일에 한번씩 3주간 튜터와 함께 PBL 활동 을 하였다. 마지막 만남에서 튜터 수행과 집단 효능감, 학습자 만족도에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였 고, PBL성적으로 학업성취에 대한 정보를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 상관분석과 회귀분석을 실시하 여 분석하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 튜터 수행과 집단 효능감이 학업성취의 32.6%, 학습자 만족도의 18.4%를 예측할 수 있는 것으로 드러났다. 이 결과는 투터 수행과 집단 효능감이 PBL 결과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 보여준 것으로, PBL 튜터 훈련의 필요성을 지적해 주며, 성공적인 PBL을 위해서 는 집단 효능감이란 변수 또한 PBL 설계 시 고려되어져야 함을 보여 주고 있다.

영문 초록

The tutors play a critical role in medical problem-based learning. In spite of their importance, few studies have been conducted on their influence on student performance and satisfaction in medical PBL. In addition, as PBL is collaborative learning, collective efficacy was expected to be powerful in predicting learning results in PBL. However, no research was conducted on this issue. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore effects of tutor performance perceived by students and collective efficacy on learner performance and satisfaction in medical PBL. Fifty-one second year medical students participated in this study and the data from forty-eight students of them were analyzed. They met once a week for three weeks under the tutelage of one tutor per group to complete one PBL module. On the last day of a PBL session, the tutor performance survey with a learner satisfaction question and the collective efficacy survey were conducted. Learner performance was measured by their PBL grades. Correlation analyses and multiple regression analyses were undertaken to interpret the collected data. Results showed that tutor performance and collective efficacy explained 32.6% of the variance in learner performance and 18.4% of the variance in learner satisfaction. These findings illustrate the importance of tutor performance and collective efficacy in PBL and imply the importance of tutor training. Further, they suggest that the methods to improve collective efficacy should be taken into account for successful PBl.
