수학과 역할놀이의 통합 활동이 유아의 수학 개념형성과 학습동기에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 수학과 역할놀이의 통합 활동이 유아의 수학 개념형성과 수학 학습동기에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 분석하고 이를 근거로 효과적인 유아 수학 교수방법을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위 해 D시에 소재한 유치원 소속 만 4세 유아 32명 중에서 17명은 학습과 역할놀이의 유기적인 통합 활동을 통해 기초적인 수학 개념을 배우는 실험집단으로, 15명은 학습과 역할놀이가 분리된 방식으 로 배우는 비교집단으로 무선 배정하여 9주 동안 실험처치하고 그 효과를 수학개념 형성 및 수학 학습동기와 관련하여 비교？분석하였다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 수학 개 념형성에서 통합 활동을 경험한 실험집단의 점수가 비교집단의 점수보다 통계적으로 유의미하게 높 았으며, 수학 개념형성의 하위영역인 대수, 수와 연산, 공간과 도형, 측정 등 4개 영역 모두에서 긍 정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아의 수학 학습동기에서 통합 활동을 경험한 실험집 단 점수가 비교집단 점수보다 통계적으로 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 학습동기의 하위 요인인 수학에 대한 선호도, 자신감, 학습열의, 유능감에서 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 수학과 역할놀이의 통합 활동이 만 4세 유아의 수학 개념형성 및 수학 학 습동기에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 효과적인 교수방법임을 보여주었다. 또한, 유아교육 현장에서 교수방법으로서 역할놀이를 활용할 때 역할놀이를 계획하고 실행하며 평가하는 전 과정에 걸쳐 교 과와 역할놀이를 체계적으로 통합시키고 그 과정에 유아를 참여시킬 필요가 있음을 시사해 주었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the activities integrating mathematics and role-play on preschoolers' mathematical learning including concept formation and motivation. For this purpose, 32 four-year-old children in two classes of a kindergarten located in D city participated in the present study. Among them, one class of 17 children was arbitrarily assigned into an experimental group and the other class of 15 children into a comparison group. The experimental group did the mathematics activities that were integrated with role-play, while the comparison group participated in mathematics activities and role-play separately. Their participation in two different types of mathematics activities lasted for 9 weeks. The results of this research are summarized as follows. First, the experimental group performed better on the mathematical concept formation than the comparison group, and also showed greater increases on all four sub-tests such as algebra, numbers and calculation, measurement, and space and shape. Second, the experimental group showed higher motivation in mathematics learning than the control group, and also showed greater increases on the motivation sub-scales including self-confidence, leaning enthusiasm, learning efficacy, and math preference. These results suggest that the activities integrating mathematics and role-play should be considered an effective instructional method for preschoolers.
